70gr Blitzking in 6x47L

G'day all,

I haven't been here in a while. I have a 6x47L F-Open rifle which with a change in stock and trigger, will do double duty as my varminting/spotlighting rifle. Just chasing some load data with the 70gr Blitzking with 2209 in this case. I also have 2208 on hand if that's better. Barrel is 1-8T, 28" Kreiger 6mm. Chasing around 3400 plus if able and I think I should get it easy.

I haven't used the 70gr in mine, but do think you are right, 3400 should be fairly easily achieved. MISSED is running 2208 in his with 68-75gr pills but I can't remember his load. Off the top of my head I do recall 3600+ fps though.

The numbers ive seen in the US has been around 3600fps plus but no load data. I'm thinking ill try 2208 but would prefer using 2209 as it would fill the case more and should then give lower ES and SD and vertical.

I run Sierra 75gr hp with 40gr 2208 for 3750fps in a 1:10 twist maddco, it's a warm load with match primers but will blow standard primers. It's devastating down range.

I'm running CCI-450 in my rifle, ill see how I go. Gotta go back to work tomorrow for a week of night shift so testing will have to wait. 40gr of 2208 is a lot of powder though. What's brass life like?

Whats this ES and SD bullcrap? Its varmints on here mate, all that crap dont matter. Just make it go splat. 70gr noslers are the go, nice and jump tolerant and also hold up well in fast twists. Its what I will be running in the dasher soon as I get the permit.

Yeah I know but I like tinkering. Hahaha you know that. I'm gonna be running them a fair bit harder then you do. I'm under the impression that the nosler jacket is thinner then Seirra.

I run 67gr Copperheads out of my 6x47Lap.
39.0 grains of 2208 gives me about 3700!
Federal "Match" primer.
Powder fill is above the shoulder so there is very little air gap!

As Chappo said "Devastating"!

I'm going with the 70gr Blitzking as that's what a good mate who's done a hell of a lot of farm shooting suggested. My original projie was going to be the 105gr Amax as it has weight and BC behind it. But he said, Amax to soft and it won't shoot flat enough, so I ran the numbers on the 70gr and well yeah, like what I see

Gents,

Just thought Id pop in again. Finally found some 70gr BK and did some testing today, about an 2 hours ago actually. 39gr 2208 got me a 3 shot group in the .1-.2" range out of a total 5 shot group. First two went a lil wild due to either myself or condition. But last 3 just went in. Gotta be happy with that. And its a mean looking lil round with those 70gr BK. Just gotta find somewhere that's cheaper then $49.95 for 100 of them now!!!!!

Quick I use the 70gn nbt in my 6/250 and it performs flawlessly on animals that a 6mm is suitable for. Biggest animal was a long shot on a goat out with James and missed one day long ago for a bang flop. It's also a little longer at the ogive if getting closer to the lands is important to uou
