Shooting max bullets is running at 34.7c/shot...... Much better than the $1.10 I paid of factories.


If they really wanted to get into the costs. There should be a cost per round for the reloading equipment.

My WBY is setting me back a mere $1.42 per shot which is way better than the projected $13 for a factory!!

I have put up 2 reloading costing programs on the following pages http://alicespringspistolclub.com.au/Imperial.html if you buy your powder in pounds OR http://alicespringspistolclub.com.au/metric.html if you buy your powder in metric containers. They have been checked out for accuracy by a couple of folks who do their own reloading and they tell me it's spot on.
Hope the folks here find them useful.

If you add the cost of the equipment, you could add it to your factory load costs too, if you have it and don't use it. How many people have a press and dies, but still buy loaded ammunition.

When I initially got into reloading I worked out the cost of a factory round vs the cost of reloads. Then worked out how many reloads it would take to 'recoup' the costs of the reloading equipment - that is how I justified it to myself anyway. So now I have reloaded enough that I have basically paid for my reloading kit.
That aside I take reloading as a hobby in its own right and do it because I enjoy it not because it is cheaper - cheaper just means I can shoot more

Yeah I think I opened a can of worms with my comment. Didn't really intend that but was a little comment just to take it into account. I also have well and truly paid for my equipment but yeah I think if it were that important to to reload as cheaply as possible, your probably too tight to shoot as much as you need to justify reloading.

After all most people who reload, shooting is a hobby or sport and reloading is just an extension of the hobby/sport. Most people don't justify the money they spend on their sport or hobby to such a fine degree.
