this is the only band I have mate...... let me know if it's the one you need and I'll get it in the post.

It's not in the best condition but if you don't have one at all it should still do the job.

Ok guys, after she got home from her shorten and re crown I set to getting her cleaned right up and blued.

I didn't get any progress shots of her being cleaned up but I have some of her all done and reassembled. I stole the young blokes red dot to stick on top just for looks until I order mine next week.

Anyway, here she is!

To say I'm a happy camper is an understatement! I love this gun, I think I have found my new go to/favorite gun!

I hope you guys enjoyed the process as much as I did!

Range report to follow in the coming week

Looking good mate, how did you go with the blueing process, any dramas or tricks you learnt along the way?

Yeah Mick, I found when bluing the barrel, instead of using their "applicator", I got a much deeper blue finish by putting a 50c piece size of the bluing liquid on my glove and massaging it in up and down the barrel, much like masturbating....... hey, it's something I'm good at, ha ha ha

Also, don't be scared to give it a good rub back with steel wool after each coat of bluing liquid, it makes sure you get the liquid off that hasn't stuck and gives a much deeper color on the next coat.

Other then that it was pretty simple really!

cheers

I dislike the SMLE as a sporting rifle (dunno why really) but you have done a top job resurrecting that old girl.

And I look forward to one day seeing it perform in "The Wild"

Good job mate, that came out really well, its easy to see why you are pleased with the job.

Which blue paste did you end up using, or was it the liquid ?
