Which Boyds Stock Colour?
I am going to order a boyds thumbhole stock for me stevens 200 223 but undecided on which colour to get. The rifle has become more of a spotlighting and range gun with the occasional fox whistle. I like the nutmeg (brown), pepper (black), sky (grey an blue) and Applejack (red an grey). Not too sure about the last 2 though - might be a bit 'out there' for my likes and possible get thrown off the back of the spotlighting ute for either of those
Any suggestions?

Re: Which Boyds Stock Colour?
I have always loved the pepper particularly on stainless rifles but after a bit of googling today (probably should have spent that time working ) and I think that the nutmeg colour looks pretty good on blued rifles. Still don't know though. I am thinking though that if I order it in the next day or so I might have it in time for Yass shoot

I have seen reports of 5 or so days out to about 3 weeks so I might get lucky but probably not - no doubt it will be on my desk at work on the Monday after

Hey Bimbo, I think Im up to 6 Boyds stocks now, all came in within 2 weeks, a couple were just over a week, would say the average was 12 days.
Dare to be different with the colour, go the apple jack.

It is tempting (btw applejack is the only colour out of stock), I like the nutmeg but it is very 'factory fitted' looking

If you get applejack, you won't have a hard time finding it in a gun rack!

Re: Which Boyds Stock Colour?
I chickened out and ordered pepper. I decided nutmeg was too factory looking and the others where a little too out there, plus if for some reason it isn't really as good as I imagine then resale should be fine on it.
I will put some pics up once it gets here and attached to a firearm. Hopefully it doesn't take too long cause I am keen to do some

Well I jinxed myself on that one, after having my order sitting there listed as 'awaiting shipping' for nearly a week I sent them an email (which I didn't get a reply to) then a message on their facebook page asking what the heck was going on. Apparently there was a 'glitch in their system' which meant I had to put through my order again today - hopefully they come good and send it out fast but I doubt itbimbo wrote:Hopefully it doesn't take too long cause I am keen to do some

Re: Which Boyds Stock Colour?
Well my day got a little better today as this was sitting on my desk when I got into work this morning - turned up yesterday but I was off looking after a sick wife
Promptly opend it up
First thoughts are, fark I hope it fits
Nice looking bit of gear, I an not too fussed on the finish, looks a little 'plasticy' but I knew that when I ordered it. I prefer an oiled type finish but not sure if it would be worth the effort of refinishing it.
Well knock off time can't come quick enough today, just need to pick up some longer action screws and see how she fits.
Total cost was about $170au landed for anyone else considering one.
Cheers
James

Re: Which Boyds Stock Colour?
Looks good mate, generally they are a very good fit, with only a couple of small tinkerings to get them to fit nicely. Pity it didn't turn up before the Missathon.
