2014 Southern Cross 1000yd BR Championship Dates.

Post by dg »

following the success and acceptance of the 2013 SCC, the designated dates for the 2014 SCC will be the 28th and 29th of June 2014.

as this year, the thursday and friday prior to the event have been reserved as practise/sighting/tuning/load develpoment days.

given the limitations of light/fog/weather etc, the numbers for 2014 will be 35 shooters.

additional nominations over the 35 limit, will be placed in order on a reserve list in and will be notified in case of withdrawals etc.

if interested in attending or if additional information or the N-D 1000yd BR Visitor package is required.

pm via this forum or

email - dg1048@yahoo.com.au

or phone 0268892141.

Gooday Dave. Good to see the dates up so soon. We warned out Anita before we left that we would be taking the same rooms next year. Needless to say the same people will be there next year from the north as were there this year with the inclusion of JR and possibly one extra as in A Hickmott if we can con(vince) him to fly his shiny new plane down (so i can fly back  ).

thanks for the update.

JR and Alan Hickmont have been included for the 2014 SCC.

what a pity we are not an "elite range" with many more targets so that we could accommodate and meet the demands of all those who seem to want to attend the SCC matches.

all who attended last weekend have at this stage indicated they will be returning in 2014.

thanks again for your great contribution over the 4 days, i really appreciated it.

in the coming months we can also discuss the other ideas and proposals that you, Jeff H and others have made for next year.

BTW the N-D range was an emergency landing strip during the war.

around 10 or more years ago a competitor from Lyndhurst flew his plane to the N-D OPM, landed near the tin shed clubhouse, competed and flew back home after the match.

so i reckon you and alan have the multiple choices of the airport and the rifle range as your possible destinations. :D :D

Dave i don't know what was discussed but the only issue, if you wish to call it that, was that the HG guys were looking for more time to cool and clean their barrels. Wasn't a problem for me with the little LG 6BR doubling up in HG. My barrel was still cool after the 10 shot string. Jacko and Jeff H may look at it differently
From my perspective, if it aint broke....................

Lots of planning going on with many ideas for a combination to beat your range. The boys are busy up here. Jackos confused with trying to choose between a 30 cal or 6 mil. No doubt there will be more guns and more barrels. Anyway he's good for a laugh watching the reloading the night before the night before the shoot. Only man i know that has burnt out a Chargemaster. Gotta laugh.

we appreciate your comments.

as the 1st time that we have run a 2 day 4 target match, there were certain areas that need to addressed that eventuated this year which did not occurr last year for the one day 2 target match.

experience can be a very good teacher.

next year there will definitely be more time for the HG's to clean, in fact we have already done a flexible draft draw for the 7 details where on both days the HG have 4 details break between shooting.

as you know the main limitation is planning and ensuring that there is always 5-7 people in the butts for each detail.

also, we intend to insure that the markers should be able to pull, replace the sighter and display the record target in around the same time or less :D than it takes a formula 1 team to change tyres!!!!

we don't have any secrets at N-D and appreciate and take notice and act on the feedback that we get for the 1000yd BR matches.

each club has it own priorities in terms of their match organisation, ours is based on trying to the best of our abilities to minimise and correct problems, provide an enjoyable and relaxed environment for all and to encourage and to continue to expand and promote the interest and participation in Australian IBS 1000yd BR.

BTW we are open to suggestions for the type/style of the SCC prizes for 2014.

The commemorative caps will be ordered shortly and i am in the process of tracking down some victorian blue paint for the benches and club house :D :D

And if possible we will get a load of "blue metal" for the entry and range roads

AND given the apparent nominees, i reckon the HG battle (competition or whatever you like to call it) for the 2014 SCC will be well worth the price of admission alone.

might need extra spectator chairs and maybe a small grandstand!!!

cheers

due to the rapid and rather surprising response, the N-D club has now filled the 35 vacancies for the 2014 SCC with a few nominations on the reserve list.

however given the competitor fluctuations that occured this year due to illness, work, family factors etc, there is probably a very good chance that those on the reserve nominations list may still get an opportunity to compete in 2014.

apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment this situation has already caused or may cause!!

it would be nice to have 10 benches and 10 targets to try and meet all competitor attendance needs, but unfortunately this is not the case and we have to work and plan to our 5 target 5 bench, light, weather limitations etc.

Dave,

It's a testament to the quality of the meet, and the fun had by all that you are full a year out. Keep up the great work.
