Sounds like a great plan. 2225 works well for me under the 162 amax. Haven't tried the 168 bergers yet.

how are the 162 gr Amax going, what type of shooting do you do hunting/target, I have some 162 gr SST loaded just for braking the barrel in.JasonF wrote:Sounds like a great plan. 2225 works well for me under the 162 amax. Haven't tried the 168 bergers yet.

Still refining the load, but velocity is good with 2225. Couple of groups have been very promising in the accuracy department. Plan was to use the 162 amax as a longer range hunting load with the 160 woodleigh PPSN for closer range shots. That was before the amax became difficult to get hold of. I have some 168 hunting vld bergers here to try too.

I will be using my 7mm For LR hunting on Sambar that's why I really wanted the 168 gr, I've been coming across many people using the 162 gr Amax. do you know the real difference between the SST and The Amax? other the BC.JasonF wrote:Still refining the load, but velocity is good with 2225. I wouldn't shoot a Sambar at long range, nor would I shoot one with either the Amax or the Berger. Judging from reports I have read the SST would be ok, but again not a long range.
Sambar need good shot placement and I can't guarantee that at long range in the field.

the SST in my opinion/experience is most properly one of the best 270 cal. bullets I have come across.
