Hornady halting bullet production for rest of 2013
Heres the link- lots of different bullets they are stopping production of for the rest of the year. Obviously they are concentrating on their main demand bullets.

This is probably a hoax. No mention of it on the Hornady website, other than a message which says "don't believe anything you hear unless you hear it direct from us".

Re: Hornady halting bullet production for rest of 2013
If it is a hoax, my apologies to Hornady. Its just a very detailed list and most of the bullets there I wouldnt think are that popular anyway. Surely would have thought they would be keeping with the main bullets eg 40-55gr vmax in 22 cal etc it would make sense to scale back bullets like 17 cals and moly coated versions they currently sell that might not sell as much as the more in demand projectiles.
I suppose it will be a suck it and see thing. Our supplies here havent seemed too bad, I hear JLK projectiles are going to be scarce soon here as the importer isnt going to be getting any more for a while. Oh well...

I don't think it is. Seems smart at this time to focus on what's selling best and fill orders whilst minimising the down-time in switching between products.JasonF wrote:This is probably a hoax. Why for example with such heightened demand would you dedicate time to running say 9.3x74R ammunition and projectiles, when 223Rem ammunition is walking off the shelves ... including your competitors products. Why also waste time making 55gr V-Max, 55gr Z-max and 55gr V-Max (moly) when they are all essentially the one product 'tweaked'? Just keep running the regular 55gr V-Max and shovel them out.
Last thing I'd expect is to hear conformation of product's being suspended from the company themselves.
Cheers...

Apparently its on accurate shooter- havent confirmed yet. So if its on there Im inclined to believe it as well.

Remember also that when shortages were being spoken about in Dec 2012, it wasn't until June this year that Jade Cleaver was quoted on the ABC saying Australia was having shortages. Nobody in the industry here would say much, but I discovered my LGS had stocked up for the shortage we weren't having back at the year's start.
Ultimately, for a hunter its no big deal, but a competitive shooter had best have stocks up for the next 12 months or so.
My opinion anyway.
Cheers...

Seemingly not a hoax.
It is going to be an interesting year or two for our industry I think.

You mean to say there is someone out there that doesn't already hoard reloading components.
