That shooting bench looks good mate
Keep us posted on the load developement especially how 8208 goes.
PS It will amaze you how accurate the fire forming loads will be as well.

Re: New Toy 20 PPC
The only problem so far is the distance between the web of thumb and trigger as it doesn't matter how hard you squeeze the trigger gaurd it won't let the trigger off.
Not much of a drama really.

Well that looks and sounds promising, bad luck with the stubby fingers. wish you blokes wouldnt keep trying to corrupt me with all these new fangled builds, Ive got enough going at the moment without looking and drooling over yours. Like those Boyds stocks, Ive got one the same colour ready to go on my 20/222 when the D man get its finished. Then Ive also got the blue one to go on my old Brno 22 when I get it back.

Re: New Toy 20 PPC
I've found the reach around to the trigger a problem with these types of thumbhole stocks. Stumpy fingers here too, but I've never found one of these stock styles to work for me.
Give me a nice vertical pistol grip and happy days. I've got a Finnfire Range that is just awesome. I'd get one of those Tikka Sporters (same stock ) in a flash.
The 20PPC sounds interesting.
So many calibres/cartridges, so little time (money

Re: New Toy 20 PPC
After reading this is decided I should try try some of this new fangled powder in my 20PPC behind some 32 gr Z-Max.
I started at 28gr and went up to 29gr in .2 gr increments.
Velocity went from 4100 up to 4160fps.
Interestingly that gave a 60fps ES over an increase in charge weight of one grain. Velocity rise per .2 increase also gave a very uniform gain of between 10 and 18 fps.
I am going to increase the load in .2 increments to see where it ends up

Re: New Toy 20 PPC
Don't get caught up that search fore more and more velocity.
I read a few years ago, and I think it was from a tech bloke at pac nor. That the 19 badger producing around 3,550 fps will have three times the barrel life of a 204 ruger. I know Calhoon has something like that on his web site, but I do believe it came from pac nor
I used to run my 17 M4 at around 3,500-3,600 fps. You maybe surprised that foxes did not know the difference between that and 17 rem velocity. Like others I shot an awful lot of foxes throught the 70s for money, that rifle was all I used. Never been much into chasing hogh speed, prefer accuracy. Apart from trying to get a little more out of the 7.62x39. I think the answer there lies with the new Alliant powder 1200-R

Jonho
I probably agree with you I recon the ultimate velocity is 3850fps having said that if it takes me
a few years to wear out a barrel then WGAF the accuracy was better than I can shoot and from a dead set 100yd
zero 1.5 min up 300yds spot on I have not had the opportunity to shoot any furher but it is some flat shooting SOB plus
I own the reamer and my smith is more than happy
to cut me a new chamber if required but i think 4110fps is quick enough.

Be buggered, someone agrees with me, what are ya drinkin mate?
It shoots alright
a real keeper. Still like the 3850 fps though. But thats not much help if dropping the charge looses the accuracy
