Sheridan 20 blue streak

For many years I have been interested in the sheridan 20 cal but have never been able to locate one. Would anyone know where i might locate a blue or silverstreak in good or better condition which is for sale.

They don't show up too often, I've never seen a Silver Steak anywhere here, ever.

I happened across my '81 Blue Streak on Usedguns a while back. Just blind luck.

Thanks fenring. I knew I should have talked the old man into buying a new one when I saw one in the dealers back in the 80's. But he reckoned 20 cal would never take off.

Well he was right. It's not even all that popular in the US.

The Sheridan is however very much worth having, and if I could get my hands on a nice old Silver Streak I'd be buying one ASAP.

Back in the 80's a mate of mine had a Blue and ammo was expensive - the Sheridan pellets (either the cylinders or German made diabolo style) were around $12 for 500 back then, or about three times the price of a tin of .22 Superpoints.

He sent off to the UK and had a tapered sizer made that sized .22 Superpoints down to .20 and they were really good.

I stocked up on .20 ammo a while back when Lewis was clearing stock out, and also got 5000 from another dealer so I have around 10,000 .20 pellets.

I have a new scope mount on the way that will get the scope mounted really low on mine.

Nah, he's more likely after an older Model C "rocker" safety version from the 70's or 80's - these are generally recognised as the better made ones. Mine's an '81 model and I'm almost done refinishing the stock. Not that it was bad, I just wanted it better.

To whet your appetite, here's a group I shot with a 1972 Sheridan BS at 100 yards back in 1994 eighteen years ago. Shot with Crosman Premier .20 pellets 14.3 gr: 1.23 inches ctc:



The best pellet was the .20 Crosman Premier but the Kodiak/Baracuda is a very close second. The JSBs are very good too (see group further down).

And a slightly better group at 100 yards shot with a 1968 model Sheridan and an old 4 X Aussie Raven scope and JSB Exact .20 pellets 13.7 gr:

Certainly top performance Harry. I bet the old Bantam pellets would be lucky to go into 8" at 100 yards.

I've got one of Greg Lundy's Ballistic Enterprises Integrabase 'S' scout mounts coming for mine. Will let me get the scope down a fair bit lower than it is now.

The Integrabase is a fair bit lower than any other mount setup that you can buy and accepts Weaver style rings which are also lower than any 3/8 rings out there.

Should be here in a week or so so I'll post pics.

I should have got on that wagon with you. I have another old one that needs a scope base. The rifle is out of commission needing a valve re-build. I think I have enough bits to do it, just need to stop shooting other rifles for a time and get it done before I forget how .

The old 1968 BS has Hillver mounts and they are HIGH as you can see. But that old scope is very slender and I was lucky to find mounts to fit.
I have plenty of the old Sheridan Bantam pellets left to me by my own dad. Your estimate was generous. I'll do it one day and let you know the result. But I did shoot some rabbits as far as 50 yards with them in the day. What a revelation when Lewis sent me the first Kodiaks then F&TT and then the first box of CPs (@ about $40 for 650) ............ Greg's mount is costing me $70 delivered and I'm mounting my 4x32 Simmons pistol scope in some low Weaver Top Mount rings.

He also does another style of Integrabase that fits neatly over the breech. You may have seen them on the Yellow?

I really like the Kodiaks in the 'Dan. Long, somewhat heavier than average and they shoot darn well. I shot a golden orb spider out of her web at over 50m one day. First shot after ranging took a leg or two off and the next splattered it.

I got 5000 of the non-diabolo H+N Sheridan "slugs" that look like a pointed Bantam and they are OK for plinkers. I shot a pair of Indian mynah's with them, and on 5 pumps they still zipped straight through.

Thanks for the images chaps. Whilst I would prefer the older model like fenrings. To be honest I would consider a CB9. Probably not as well built as yesteryear but still they dont have much plastic in them. Would any one know who might currently be importing Crosmans?

Fortunately I managed to get quite a few 20 cal pellets from Lewis as well for my rapid, this would be to compliment those times when I can't get the tank refilled or just for something different.

I love my r9 in 20 and have seen a few bs on used guns from time to time.
I would like a bs one day. I have 10,000 plus pellets stocked up just in case mynahs go zombie LOL.

My r9 absolutely loves h&n field target and trophy they changed name slightly but got Lewis's last tins Barracudas are the same as Kodiaks I believe use these to plink and jsbs are awesome too. Predator pellets really mess the small birds up.

For the eye watering price of $25 for 500.....

I prefer the heavier pellets in the Streak, though the Exacts are also very nice and give high energy at full whack.
