1000yd benchrest averages!

Post by a.JR »

Hi all, Just going over my group averages from 2004 till 2012 in Heavy Gun at 3 of the AUST ranges i have competed at ..A small milestone has been passed for me as totaled the average of the best 50 1000yd groups for the 9 years and it goes 6.929 ins , finally that's 50 groups agging under 7.0 inches , Woohoo .. Small of 4.730ins through to the biggest at 8.400ins for the 50 x 10 shot groups ..Things like this make it worth while to get the energy to spend lots more hours preparing the gun and cartridges for the next comp .. Might even break out the good scotch tonight as it sure is a good day to be alive for this died in the wool Northern Redneck..JR.. Jeff Rogers

Well done Jeff.
Shows what skill and dedication can do.

jeff

for those who wish to think about it, there is a pretty important message in comparing your achieved results with the time and procedures you follow in the testing and preparation.

well done.

cheers

Thanks young Jack , You will be fine as the 6inch zone your in does not have very many members .. You keep pushing and this old fart will keep trying to stay ahead if he can.. JR

Well done J R now would be the time for you to put all that experience into use
and build a better Heavy Gun --
just think of what you could do with all new gear
and what scores you could shoot with a new gun
if you start now it could be built for the Dubbo shoot next year
cheers john mc quire :rifle: :rifle:

Hi All , Thanks for the good wishes . John , i think your right , i have been shooting the same gun, bullet and barrel twist for 9 years .. I would have to build a brand new gun so i could fall back on the old one if the things i don't like about the present combo do not work out .. Now if i could talk a certain person into making the *mother of all H/G Actions* for me then the process would be a lot closer .. We live in hope .. I know if i could pull another 3 to 5 seconds out of the shot string time i could drop my group 6 match by approx 1 inch .. Maybe in the next life ..JR.. Jeff Rogers
