Scope mount height

Post by mike »

Does anyone know what scope mount heights I need for
7x50 and 8x56

This is for a ruger vt 223 the gun shop seem vague and seem to think that the high ruger mounts will be high enough for the 8x56 but I am not so sure. Prefer to use ruger rings but may have to flexible on this.

Thanks

Mike,

Your gunshop should know what they are talking about....as in they should have all the info....

I am unsure about Ruger rings and this may not help you but.....I have an 8x56 on a Remo .222 and have the old Hillver brand rings and base on it.
The height from the top of the action to the bottom of the scope is 0.900" (ring and base combined)and this just clears the barrel, it's so close the plastic covers actually jam between the front bell and the tube.

It may depend on which scope you choose as well as some may be thicker around the front lens than others.

Give Peter van Meurs a ring; he's in your area and he has heaps of good stuff. If you're desperate tell him the Ruger 300WnotsoSM #1 from Townsville referred you.
