6 X 47 Lapua project...
My new Redding Comp seating die arrived today and a thank you to Russel and the Crew at Canberra Wholesale Shooters for such efficient service.
As some may know my Stolle is in dry dock with Mr. Giles (waiting, waiting and more waiting). It is getting refitted with a couple of new barrels and a 20 MOA rail.
I am really looking forward to getting the 6 X 47 Lapua-which is a 1 in 8 and is the Kreiger barrel that I picked up, if I recall from Justin P.
Reminiscing over this caliber, I should have listened to Mr. Bent along time ago but of course I have to stand on my dick a few times and burn my fingers before I learn.
I am contemplating using Vihta N560 in the initial load development along with 2209.
Hopefully, it will be ready for the next shoot in Canberra.
Has anyone had any good results with VV N560 or is it somewhat temperamental..?
Regards
Sean

I have used N560 in the 6x47 and ended up giving it away, tempermental. 2209 is a top powder for the 6x47.

Do a ring around, a few places should have 6.5x47 brass on the shelf.

No they didn't! Stuart had to send me some prepped ones he was doing for a local, as they didn't have any.ecomeat wrote:Stewart and Annie Elliott at BRT in Brisbane had stock just before Xmas

this may come across as argumentative but it is not how i meant it. My view is that if Stuart was able to send them to you(regardless of if he had prepped them for somebody or not), then yes he had them and i would like to think that he would treat all of his customers the same/equally and not give preferential treatment to anybody. just to emphasize, no i am not trying to be argumentative. it is how i would view it

Re: 6 X 47 Lapua project...
ive watched some of the vids on sniper rifles [knackers and the doc] and the 6.5x47lap seems to be a top shooter.
id be interested to see how yours goes over the 800/1000 yrd range sean.
i am thinking of changing the fclass omark over to this cal. [in the near future]
the omark needs a new barrel.
what sort of kick does it have ?
more/less than a 308 ?
i will be shooting prone.
what loads have you come up with/will come up with ?
regards
sean

LR, I run a 6.5x47L and love it. Less recoil than a 308. Mine is 16pound 9 oz. my first time at 1000yr I agg'd just over 8 inches in shit conditions in LG at canberra. I run 37.5g of 2208 behind a Berger 130 vld and cci br4 with a .040 thou jump.LoneRider wrote:ive watched some of the vids on sniper rifles [knackers and the doc] and the 6.5x47lap seems to be a top shooter.

To be honest the 130s go that well I haven't tried anything else. I'm getting 2960fps with no pressure signs and great accuracy. Might try some lighter ones for 300 fly one day.
