FX Elite 007 has arrived late today ...

Post by Yrrah »

How is that for timing!

FX Elite "007" ... Long wait has ended !!!

Today, Friday, is the last mail drop before Xmas Day. My club armourer called late this afternoon to say he would drop by with a parcel and do some paper work for registration. So the FX Elite 007 ended its journey that more or less began for real in May when Johnny Sweden got FX 006. It got delayed a few times before heading for a long vacation in Germany and eventually being freighted to Australia. ... It has arrived in perfect condition.

Pic: The Elite "straight to the barrel" loading system. Shows the transfer port, which when the bolt is closed, allows for the air charge to go into the bolt, sealed with an"O" ring, and then directly to the pellet. This is similar to the 10m rifles and the Steyr FAC system and others. There may be advantages in not having the pellet loaded across a transfer port in the barrel. ... The lever action is as smooth as oiled glass and effortless to cock.

Image

The FX Elite system also allows for quick barrel changes without the necessity to change loading probes or receivers.

The FX Elite's unique S/N 6"007" may be a portent of things to come. :D
Pic: The .25 cal rifle and spare shorter barrel in .22 calibre.

Length and weight: With the 23.5 inch .25 cal barrel it is 41.5 inches long. With 19 inch .22 cal barrel it is a short 37.25 inches long which should be very nice to carry in the field. Weight with the long barrel is 7.25 lb bare and 8.8 lb with the big Bushnell Elite 6500 4-16X scope installed. ... It came with a number of spare "O" rings, a very nice little bristle cleaning brush for the few cm of "rifling" at the muzzle and a hard plastic case.

The spare barrel in .22 cal can be installed in a few minutes but it can also be installed into my legendary Excalibre/ Tarantula, which will allow for direct comparisons between the Smooth Twist barrel and the exceptional LW barrel of the Excalibre. Likewise I presume that down the track I shall be trying both those barrels in the FX Elite. So much to do.

However, nothing much will happen until after Xmas and New year when we go to our farm for lavender harvest through January. I may sneak in a trip to a range before then perhaps. :D ...... I did clean the barrels and they shine like mirrors.

I had to share this with those who have shown interest here.

The acquisition saga is over ... let the testing begin sometime soon .... Kind regards, Yrrah.

That's fantastic Harry it certainly looks the goods, Hermans have my FX but did not post it as it would not have arrived in time.
I know you will be keeping us up to date with the results. Have you tried the 25grn 22 Exacts?

I tested the 25.4 gr Monster .22 JSBs before they were released. They shot well from my BSA Special .22 barrel.

More recently I have tested the second generation the Monster Stratons which are slightly pointed like the JSB Stratons. If anything I think they may be a tad better.

I have not shot the Elite yet but it will be tested with all the good pellets in both calibres ..... Best for Christmas, Harry.

What a "Ripper" of a Xmas pressie Harry! Definitely worth the wait. The potential to be a top shooter is even in the way it looks.
I really like that new Bolt/Transfer port set up. Look out Steyr there,s a new kid on the block! :D
A Merry Xmas to you and yours Harry.

I hope each of you and all the silent readers here, have a great Christmas with families and friends.
I will keep you posted as my tests roll out. I am left handed and the stock is very much a right handed one so I may have to train my right eye and hand to do what the lefts have been doing for near 70 years. ... Left handed stocks are available now so I may try to get one from FX or have at making one.

Best regards to all .. Harry.
