Rimfire Super shoot 2012

Post by Brett33 »

Hi all,
If the supershoot is on again I am thinking of entering.
Not certain who will run this event next year but I have been reading the post from last year and have a couple questions.
Will the event be the same as last year.
4 IRB cards
50m group,
100y group
200m Fly
In my preperations I will need to understand the rules.
Will my SSAA heavy gun fit in the rules for rifles.
Where do I find the 200m Fly rules, I have never shot it and have no idea.
Any help on the fly shoot would be great.
Will there be a team event again? might have to try and talk a few into comming with me.
Regards Brett

G"Day,
Yeah seen that last year and it sounds like a good weekend, from memory it clashed with some other rimfire shoot last year.
Wish they would organise something in brissy like that.

Hi Brett,
The super shoot will be on again this year, just working out the final details.
The match will be as follows:
Friday night 3 card IRB Saturday 50m / 100y group Saturday night 3 card IRB Sunday 200y Fly
The shoot will be held on the long weekend in June.
Yes there will be a team event again this year.
Your heavy rifle will be fine as there is only one class SSAA weight limit of 14lb.
Fly match rules:
Can only present 8 rounds to the firing line (3 sighters & 5 scoring)
1 x warmer / sighter target
5 x scoring targets
Fly target is placed above a metal sighting plate
The match is scored both on points and group size plus .1 for each fly hit so max score on each target is 60.5 (50 for score and 10 for group)

Hope this answers your questions.
More info to follow soon

Thanks Chris,

All that info helps a great deal, and only other info I need is about sighting on the fly.

I run a 36X weaver, do you guys need a extra spotting scope, or a person spotting for you?

I asume you use your 3 sighters on the plate to estimate a hold off then 5 scoreing.
There is a fine line between dropping points for missing the 10 or dropping points on the group I assume 10s are best.

I am looking forward to a new challenge, will play with my gear over the summer to work out my come-ups etc.

Sounds like a good match but its the week after world championships in Brisbane and the same weekend as the NSW IRB. After the WC I think a few of us might stay at home the long weekend.

Native,
The NSW IRB date has been set for Silverdale on the June long weekend again next year, but because almost all who would go to that match would shoot at the world championships there was talk the state IRB might be held a little later.

I think when they http://wbsfrc.com.au/ get around to announcing that the 2 day individual match at the WC is open to everyone, people will be able to plan out their year a bit better.

Hi Brett,
36x weaver is fine to see your shots. But with fly shooting you can have a spotter it is the only benchrest match that this is accepted.

Cheers

Hi Peter, Yes busy time of the year, I think there is 1 weekend free in between but I might still have trouble getting a leave pass from home.
The Leeton / Narrarenda crew have been suporting shoots from Sydney to Melb and I like the idea of this shoot, So I am going to try and support it.
That means getting my gear ready over the next few months to ensure I can be competitive on the day, especially the 200m stuff.

Brett,
Sort of a weekend in between, the individual match at the WC is Thursday- Friday presentation Saturday. I’d say most of us would leave on the Sunday and state IRB or super shoot the following weekend.

I haven’t shot fly for a while but the main thing is make sure you can get enough elevation in your scope, I’m not even sure there is enough range in the March to get from 50 to 200 without some mods to the mounts. Also fast ammo is the go.

I must have my dates wrong

Post by Brett33 »

Peter.

I must have my dates wrong,
I have the WC finishing Saturday 26th May, Drive home Sunday as you say.
And the June long weekend is 9-11 June.
That leaves 2nd and 3rd June at home to recover.

We need somebody to make a match calander for the year, I have started but do not have any of the NSW SSAA state event dates for the year yet.

Peter, The world champs in may up at brisbane are open to everyone bar the teams event Correct?
I have had alook at their website but nothing seems to be up I cant access the nomination forms. Is it just best to ring ssaa brisbane and put my name down that way?
Im not shooting the teams event so its ok to turn up on the thursday, friday to shoot the individual cards or do you have to be their from the start?
And I take it their is a jnrs section also?
Mayb start a new post over on BB might be a good idea to let people know whats going on.
Someone really needs to make up calander!!! Anyone know of the ssaa 6club IRB shoot dates also???

Thanx.

Chris,
The problem is they are not telling us anything other than what is on the webpage, all the info we have has come from overseas and I've already posted that on Benchrest Bulletin.

The Oz team will be sorted after the nationals and final noms for overseas shooters close on Feb 20th and so maybe after that they might say something.

If you really want to know, go through channels and ask your state BR delegate.
