Excellent group.
Have you taken her out to play at 1k yet??
l wouln't mind seeing a pic of your groups going further out.
What made you decide to neck down the 9.3x62 rather than neck up the 6.5x.284 case?
Cheers

The bottom of the fore-end is flat and the 50 hours in the shed was not that bad. I quite enjoy tinkering there and the real enjoyment is looking at the finished product....... and Kenny did tell me to expect to spend at least 40 hours there

I will be shooting for the first time this weekend in the 1000yd match in TSV so will definitely let you know how it goes. The 9.3 brass was recommended by JR and as outlined by Tony Z seems to be a bit "stronger" than the other possible cartridges that I was considering.

First Match
Hi All
Well as outlined by JR, today was my first chance to give my rifle run in a match and what better way than to do it at 1000yds
The first target was a 49 score for a 6.6" group which I was quite stoked with given this was my first ever time shooting at 1000yds. The second target however was not as good due to a couple of teething problems along with losing a couple right on the breeze got me a score of 43.1 for a 9.2" group.
The attached picture is the target from today and the marked shots were from the first target shot. All in all I can't wait to get to the "Australian Ironman Match" here in Townsville in a fortnights time to give it a run at the Fly, 600yd and another at 1000yds.

Hi Al,
bloody nice shoot'in for your first attempt at this range mate, i think you have a real winner with that gun. I think I to will be building my new L/G on the same cartridge and following the advice of AJR & TZ.
As I was having some trouble with mine i got into a conversation with Bob N and AJR, one of the things we spoke about was tuning the rifle to the rest and rear bag. At this stage Bob N had not shot his second target, so when the time came he ajusted the rest stop and reversed the rear bag, well bugger be if it showed an immediat result giving Bob an inch or more off his previous target.
This just goes to show when you have the chance to talk to someone that actualy has a clue, don't pass it up, especially when such a small change can give you an inch or more at a 1000yds.
Pete.

As stated previously this is a reasonably close design to the 30/06 ackley but with slightly more case capacity, shorter neck and shorter over all length.
Piccy of the case as requested. The three cases left to right are:
9.3x62 unformed case; formed case, formed case with projie at seating depth.

albow,
Firstly congratulations on some good results mate. You give it to em at the Ironman ... aJR could use a towelling up to keep him honest.
Secondly I think an article on the method for case forming would be of interest to many of your fellow forum members and since you have just done it all you could do a good write up on the process.
I am sure kjd would be happy to have it posted.
cheers
