Howa 'barreled action' for Boyd's stock ?

Post by Andries »

If I order a barreled action and a Boyd's stock, do I need anything else...does the action come with a trigger guard ?

Your advice appreciated as always.

Grow up trevor.

Andries, the Howa barrelled actions come with trigger and magazine box/bottom metal. The only thing I would add is a scope base. Highland are selling the EGW Picatinney rails and I strongly recommend them as a good base. Any Weaver or Picatinney ring will fit and your scope can be positioned exactly as you need it.

Calibre? Pick one. Check out what the heavy barrels come in, that is the one you want.

I did the exact thing with a heavey barrel Howa in .223.
Only advice is to do some work on the trigger or have somebody work on it for you.
Mine is at the 'smith's getting a 20 cal pac nor put in it for a 20 tac, but having said that I shot some sub inch groups at 200yds with the factory barrel and plenty of screamers at 100 with handloads.

Yep the Barreled Action is complete - only thing you have to do is get the stock you want and a set of mounts and bases and scope.

Put it all together and go shooting - simple as that.

I bought the Howa Blued Heavy Barreled action in 22.250, bought the Boyds Pepper coloured Thumbhole stock, set of leupold rings and bases, Zeiss Scope. Great combination that shoots very well in deed.

If you want the trigger done and aren't confident in doing it yourself I can Recommend Glen Coughlan (the Ebay guy everyone talks about when it comes to Howa/Whetherby Triggers)

his email is gcoughlan@hotmail.com it costs $58 last time I looked which included return registered post.

Glen did my trigger and its quite simply beautiful to use, smooth, crisp and light!

Results from my Howa 22.250HB

Enjoy!
