Post by RDavies »

The National Queens Prize meet will be at Belmont on 12-14th Oct with a lead up event on 8-9 Oct.
For those who dont know about F Class, you can use your benchrest rifles, rests etc (no muzzle brakes), any caliber up to 8mm, (so no 338 lapuas etc, but 6, 6.5 and 7mm calibers most popular.

As the Nationals are being run along with the World Palma Championships, there will be plenty of overseas teams shooting target rifle.

Saturday 8th October. am - 300, 500 Yards pm - 300, 500 Yards
Sunday 9th October. 600,800,900,1000 Yards

Wednesday 12th October. NRAA Queens Prize(Incl Veterans World Individual) 300, 500, 600 Yards
Thursday 13th October NRAA Queens Prize (Incl Veterans World Individual) 600, 800, 900 Yards
Friday 14th October NRAA Queens Prize (Incl Veterans World Individual) am - 900, 1000 Yards
All ranges are 2 sighters and 10 shots for score.

A mate rang last night. When he picked up his cards from the office they were up to 520 entries.

Just hope the rain clears now.

Congrats to Rod. Excellent shooting all the way over the 3 days.

It was great to talk with some of the international shooters. Bryan Litz and John Widden had interesting information on bullets etc.

Yes, it was a great shoot, lots of overseas big name shooters in the Target Rifle World Championships. 480 competitiors I think.
The F class events are completed and range wins were spread around, and even Cameron (Singleshot) I had the odd bit of luck. You missed a great event if you didnt go for a look.
In open class 284s pretty much dominated the top few positions, with a few 6mms and 6.5s mixed in, more so in the shorter ranges out to 600yds.

A well done to two of our forum members, Rod and Cameron, for a great performance at the Queens match.
No way this little black duck is going over to FC again. I am flat out dealing with one range and am way to impatient for multiple ranges and that winding of scopes up and down and oh mein gott, all those wind flags!!! As they say, only mad dogs, Englishmen and Harley riders lay down in the hot midday sun

Thanks Tony.

I think the englishmen were having trouble dealing with the heat actually :) I believe they call it humidity, something you blokes thrive on up there.

Gooday Cameron, after having another look at the scores posted, i was sort of hoping you and Rod keep away from the 1K and Fly matches
Some of those scores, along with some from the FS guys, could really post a very good group and score at either of those matches.
I was looking at the TR scores as well. Might be time for the target to be reduced because when you look at one of the 900 yard matches, the first 125 shooters posted a 50 with some number of Xs. They would wear barrels out doing the shoot offs wouldn't they?

Congratulations Rod. Brilliant shooting and that fancy looking barnard is obviously doing the trick. You really have me wanting to get an open barrel done up now....

Tony, Dave Macnamaras 60/60 at 1000yds in the lead up would have been something like a 6" 10 shot group. If it wasnt for some pick ups and drop offs during the Queens 1000yd stage, there would have been quite a few 60s going by the lack of verticle on the targets, with a few of the guns keeping verticle within the 127mm X ring.
The level of accuracy needed to stay competitive in the big shoots has increased a fair bit in the last few years, with very few points being dropped.
Daves 284 is the most accurate rifle I have seen at 1000yds (he has had other 60s at 1000yds at other ranges) and he doesnt live far from Townsville. He might get down there and have a bit of a go at 1000yd BR.
