50 yards videos; pellets in flight.

Post by Yrrah »

I think I have now pretty much mastered the "through the scope sight" video process to show pellets in flight. Another shooter, Ted In Wisconsin USA, introduced us to the little Casio cameras (mine cost under $400 landed from Malaysia including spare rechargeable battery, 16 Gb card, bag etc. ) and the Seben bracket ( $40 landed from Germany) for attachment to our scopes. ...
I have been developing a system to track the pellet almost from the barrel in order to analyze flight dynamics to as far as 150+ yards..

Here is a three shot group and a one shot "chicken head" "kill" shot in a stiff breeze at 50 yards. The JSB 18.1 gr pellets flew with excellent stability:

Please be patient with the buffering process:

Kind regards, Harry.

Should have said the Casio Casio EX-FH 100 camera plus spare rechargeable battery, 16 Gb card, bag etc. ... The camera cost $260 Aus . I have since picked up a Jap battery from Hong Kong for $12 landed (rather than the about $30 I paid when I got the camera). ..... It does pay to shop around. ... There are a number of camera models, some cheaper, and including a newer model EX-ZR 100 all of which have high speed slow motion facility. ....... Harry.

Thanks. Did you notice that the hold-off for the one JSB Predator had to be more because of a lower BC, but there had to be hold-under because they are lighter than the three 18.1 gr Exacts and so are quite a bit faster. ... If you watch closely you will see some of the spent pellets dropping away after smacking the swingers. ... Only four shots fired as can be seen by the clean backing sheet.

But the purpose here was to showcase the pellet flight from a photographic viewpoint for flight analysis.

Those swingers were made by Graeme Whatman of Tumut, one of our best and most consistent silhouette shooters. He scaled them all for size at 50 (metres or yards I'm forgetting) from rimfire silhouettes. ................. Which days are you at the range now? ............... Best regards, Harry.
