Ron
If you go to lil gun start about 11.5 with 40grn and work up SLOWLY.
big strong action like you have will be an advantage. Might drive down to St Mary's and have a shot with you one day.

1st outing after running in barrel. I went and shot it at 50mtrs indoor St Marys today, which was good as it wasnt packed due to fathers day. It shot well but im sure i need to fine tune a load. But it was alot of fun and im sure it will improve. Cheers Ron

Rock n Roll, Ron, Rock n Roll...
That is cool and some neat groups as well for a hornet at 50, would definatly knock over a cat at 150-200mtrs
All the best

Re: Rem 700 SUPER HORNET
Ron,
Has Shane knocked back the head and coned the recoil lugs with the bolt rim, trimmed the f/pin and refaced the bolt? Or sleaved in a piece, welded and machined it back? I also see ya put in a Sako extractor but Where is it? or is it just a funny camera angle or reflection etc.
I’m also assuming he has left a few 10 thou clearance for the cone section on the bolt when it comes in contact with the barrel so it didn’t affect the lugs locking up?
Either way it is a very cool concept and some extreemly good "out off the box" thinking
All the best

Re: Rem 700 SUPER HORNET
Ron,
If you dont mind ... would you keep us informed of how it shoots with your load development particularly at 100 yards? The rifle itself looks upto testing Hornet ammunition to the n-th degree. It can be a fussy cartridge and quite challenging to load to get consistent accuracy without the occasional unexplained flyer. Here's an example ... same rifle, same 12x Leupold ... left 'target' is the Rem factory load, two in the middle are the last of another reload whilst on the right is a reloaded 35gr V-Max shot frm 100 yards. Circles are about 3/4" in size. Rifle with factory loads is 'possessed by demons'.
There were a few articles in Precision Shooting many years ago on reloading the Hornet to achieve accuracy, and the extent that some have had to go to is mind boggling.
Cheers...

Re: Rem 700 SUPER HORNET
Where abouts did you get lil gun pwder from ? I was hoping that the importer of Alliant powder will bring in 300-MP powder. I have seen impressive results when used in Hornet's in the State's.Ol 55 wrote:Ron
