Re: All About Spring Piston Air Rifles.
That's a nice write up.
One thing that you forgot to mention that most people get wrong is Scope Choice on Spingers - especially high powered ones.
Spring Piston Air rifles create a double recoil that can shake the scope interals apart. There is a forward and rearward recoil. Most rifle scopes are built to only withstand recoil in the rearward direction. You sometimes hear people complain about their Springer not being able to shoot - 'It's all over the place' and that can be from the recticle being shaken about and losing zero. It may not be their technique of holding that is robbing them of accuracy.
Even a good name brand rifle scope can be shaken to peices by a springer.
You need a proper Air Rifle scope that can cope with the double recoil of a sping piston action and you will then be all smiles. A good set or rings is also needed and a rear stop used if it is available on the rifle.

Thanks Gigitt! I totally forgot to mention the scope issue! I'll update the article to include that!

Keith, it's good to see airguns getting some excellent coverage in the H+S Network.

I really want H&S to be the first place you go when you want to read about hunting and guns. As we grow bigger I want to have writers covering everything: hunting, varminting, target shooting, shotguns, air guns, handguns, politics etc etc. One day we'll get there!
