We will try and run this match a number of times a year depending on interest, time and support. Cessnock have a similar event for those interested.

Bump, would love to see some of you guys turn up :P

JasonF, bring your rifle, you'll get a chance to zero @ 700, then if you are comfortable from 400m in you'll be fine and have some fun. We've purposely designed this match so that new shooters can still get into it and get a feel for the type of match we want to run in future.

Mate I'll tell you if you let me know what's up with Surgeon Actions :D

Bipods are a yes, from the original post: Rear bags will be permitted, in the spirit of this match we encourage improvised or lighter/smaller rear bags. Any front rest is permissible however we strongly advise that shooters use bipods only.

Slings permitted in all COF.

So are you coming, would be great to see you and Trev shoot this match?

Surgeon have the actions in stock, but they are still to mail me the new price structure, fingers crossed i might get it shortly.

Mate.. I might as well be.. right on the border... but I'm working! This type of shoot interests me so much I am having a rifle built dedicated for it. I can see it being a pretty popular shoot in time to come.. and fun!! At last guys with tact style rifles can use and enjoy them in a competition!!

I say bring them on.... and dont be shy to go along all of you guys!!

Cheers

Gents,

The good news is that there has been tremendous interest around this match both on this forum and others. The bad news is that very few shooters (both local and interstate) have been able to commit, various reasons for this but the reality is that we may have less than 10 shooters for the May 8 Match.

We have decided the following:

The May 8 match will go ahead as planned, it will be a less formal affair than originally planned with less shooters.

We will reschedule the same match (possibly with some minor tweaks) for another date in the near future. We are looking at hosting it twice within the next 2-4 months depending on the number of shooters who commit. This should give everyone plenty of notice for the match and allow shooters to make arrangements to attend. Our goal is a minimum 20 shooters, 30 preferred and I believe that is achievable.

We are discussing asking shooters who nominate to pay $30 non refundable up-front, this is to ensure as few late withdrawals as possible. How does this forum feel about that arrangement?

Happy to receive input on the above.

Cheers,
Rath

Hi Clyde

Mother's day rules me out from competing this time around, but I will slip down to the range for a look once I have provided breakfast-in-bed. Assuming no major family commitment clash for the next one, I will compete - even if I don't have much hope of punching the paper with the 223 at 700m.

I haven't shot in a competition before, so don't know what the convention is with nomination fees, but putting some $ down is a good way to make sure people turn up, especially if you have costs to cover.

Cheers, Jason.
