Yes Joy did enjoy her time sitting behind Calfee rifles, it really shows what great equipment and ammo can do for a shooter. She is comming to the USA, I will be interested to see what gear she will be offered to use.
My tip is to watch the Aussie team members that will be using Gorden Eck built sporter and 10.5lb rifles, they will shine.

G"day All,
well im back from the club shoot after using the lighter bullets of the batched Eley Match and I scored a 200.15.
Nothing fantastic, but it was one of them very still humid nights and the bullets were floating everywhere.
Them dense pockets of air really do play havoc.
Wonder how a wind sensor would deal with that.??
Regards

I have sensors that I can use to work out Air density no problem.

Well, I took no chances today, and swapped batches of ammo to shoot. Yes, I swapped from my hand-batched lots of X-Act, to another batch which shot well in practice a few days back.

Yesterday, I shot my hand-batched lot, and dropped 3 points on my first card. Dunno why, but the breeze was light, but really twitchy and nervous. I kept up with the hand-batched lot, and shot two clean cards, but I was down three points in the TRA Nationals.

Today, with the change of lot, and a fair amount of breeze to boot, I shot 599.51, and won the comp, with a combined score of 1196.100.

So, does hand-hatching work? I still don't know. I was concerned about the batch I was shooting, so I went with a batch I knew worked (and which I hadn't hand-batched). The theory with hand batching is sound, but in practice? *scratches head*

Thanks Brett!

All of the listed shooters above shot well. I think RL and PW shot 600s yesterday, and Annette and Martin shot 599.

But the conditions today were different. RL dropped a whole bunch in his detail, and I think Patrick, Annette, and Martin shot better, but still dropped at least 4 today, so none of them ended on the podium.

It was me, Roy Helbig, and Catherine Burnett. I think Roy was from SA, and Cathy from Vic. As for teams, we only fielded 3 shooters, and the teams needed 4, so NSW went without this year :-( we wouldn't have won anyway, as John Howard (who went a hair away from shooting a 600) struggled in the breeze and dropped a bunch unfortunately, along with Ivan Kelly.

:-( Next year for NSW! We'll get em next year. THis year will be a run between Vic and Qld
