Dream long range varminter...

Post by dave »

Whats your dream long range varmint rifle? Want some ideas as ive decided to get rid of a few things including a few unfired rifles ( for some reason i keep wanting something else  )

Im thinking something really flat, 300 yard + mpbr, probably fit a brake so i can see hits and it will be heavy as hell.....

- 300 wsm fast twist 100 gr as fast as possible
- 6-284
- 7mm wsm
- 22-243
- 257 wby mag

i guess the possibilities are endless.............HELP!!!

dave i would take the 22 243 ,the ultimate varminter to me is heavy enough to move around without being a burdon, can be shot out a window (semi rounded forend) because flat ones dont work good on window rest, should run on bags well, you wont need a break with this caliber (your freinds will still shoot next to you aswell),i would go a slow twist and shoot 55,s flat out ,i no the high bc bullets work well from experiance but if you are shooting crows (where legal) you dont want to be putting big bullets in the air, out to 400 yds you could hold just a shade high and geuss wind which you have to do no matter what your shooting and its going to be more pleasant to shoot than a 300 wsm,if your shooting further than that go the bigger cal ,but it becomes more hit and miss as the range increases,(or so ive found ) just my 2 cents worth :D

I have been doing a bit of research (I hate the internet) my choice on a medium action would be a 6/284 on a long action a 6.5/06 and on a Short action a fast twist 20 cal built on a 6.5 Grendel case aka 20 Titan.I do not know what make it is  but a stock like Trevort has on his 204 and jasonf has on his 223. I believe you have the Optics of my choice in the Sightron. And thats my 2 bobs worth.
