Hunter Class Rimfire silhouette rifle - Annie 1416 D HB?

Post by Little 17HMR »

Just wondering if anyone uses an Anschutz 1416 D HB (Heavy Barrel) clasic stock for Rimfire silhouette and/or if it fits in the Hunter class?

I know the weight limit is 3.86 kg (Total rig), Wwich the rifle should fit well under (supposedly 2.9 kg rifle only + scope (VXIII 65. -20 EFR) 0.5 kg and rings ~ 0.2 kg). Just wondering if there any deal breakers?

Also could this same rifle be used in 3P?

My other option is a CZ452 Silhouette but I can get the Anschutz for a tad more than the CZ

Cheers

I think that it should be ok for Hunter class .
One think to think about is Hunter Class doesn't get shot too often. States & Nationals seem to be the only times.

Make sure that you test the ejection on the rifle very thoroughly and take it back if it has any problems - the Annie 64 action has a long standing problem with woeful ejection.

Personally I would get the CZ and use the money saved on a trigger tune and bedding job.

Cheers for the advice.

At the moment i can get the Annie for not much more than the CZ.

I will look up the ejection issue

Thanks

It will be far easier to fix any ejection problems should they arise that make the Cz trigger any good.

Can I send you my Annie for fixing then? Stuffed if I can fix it, and it drives me nuts. :?

You could both send me your CZ and Annie (for free) if you are not happy with them- heh heh :D .

Been sifting the usual forums and it doesn't appear that anyone has a "true" fix for the common ejection problems with the 64 action. Seems a bit hit and miss.

Surely Anschutz would want to develop an inhouse fix and issue a recall or make available a freely avaiable part update. It's in thier best interest to keep thier customers happy.

Hmmmm decisions.......

The 64's have options as far as the triggers go and generally will shoot better out of the box.

No doubt the trigger on mine is excellent - best of any rifle I have, but the ejection problem is a show stopper for me. I can't believe a company like Anschutz has got away with producing such a known defective product for decades and still has the reputation that it does. I certainly wouldn't pay $1400+ for a new one. The Cooper 57M on the other hand...
