A Return to FLY Shooting!

Post by a.JR »

Hi All , At our annual 3 day big match at easter this year we are finally returning to having a Fly match in our program .. A coupla years since the forced NO GO on FLY .. Could any of you guys from the different ranges post your range records please .. the Townsville range have our list from pre 2008 but would like to know what the best results are from each place so we know what we have to now set our sights on ..I guess it would be High Overall Score from Light &Heavy ,Small group from Light &Heavy , Highest single target score from Light &Heavy and maybe highest Fly hits From Canberra / Melbourne / Batemans Bay / Brisbane and any other matchs .. Any info would be appreciated ..JR..Jeff Rogers..ps .. any rules changes too please

Hi aJR great that fly is up and running again Bob and i will be up for the easter shoot -- and yes it would be great to know what all the records around the country are -- Townsville beeing the easy range to score on might be a chance to set a few more records  have you recieved any nominations for the Iron Man Shoot yet ? and maybee you could post your local range records for all to see john mc :rifle2:

Hi a.JR, good to hear. Can't make it this year, but would love to go back up to townsville for next years shoot if I can get the dates early enough. Should have the new heavy gun run in by then ( It hasn't been built yet but I will be giving the barrel to PVM at the federal cup, he has an action for me)

cheers

Jeff,
I can give you all the data for Melbourne but I will need your email address. You can send it to me by email <petevanmeurs@bigpond.com.au> . I will also provide you with a copy of the current rule book as approved by all state benchrest delegates (slightly revised from the original distributed in Canberra - mainly typo's and other subtle changes). The only thing to be re-visited is the issue of a National champs shoot.

Hi a.JR the only people who may have that info are Ross Freestone or Peter Barnier, however I don't have their contact details.
Or check previous SOTY records for some details

Cheers

Hello aJR are you going to post a list of scores for the fly for townsville or wait till you get a list from the other ranges that have shot the fly -- looks like little river keeps great records -- do you know where to get a list of the records shot all over australia -- it would be good to be able to compare the scores that have been shot since 1993 john mc :rifle: :rifle:

Hi Guys , Just got the old results book out for our local Fly Match .. Shoot commenced 1993 ....Records for Heavy gun are High Score 255.5 / Tony Z / 4.4.04 / 7mm ........ Single card 58.2 / Tony Z / 14.4.04 / 7mm.......... Small Group 1.533 / Tony Z / 4.4.04 / 7mm ........Light gun High score 244.6 / Bob Luther / 22.8.04 / 30.284.. Single card 58.1 / Bob Mulder / 15.7.06 / 30BR.......... Small group 1.610 / T,Armstrong / 7/7/07 / 284wec .......... Last match 13/9/08............. Longest standing record was a 53.1/2.91ins shot in 1995 by J Rogers broken in 2000 by Bob Luther to 53.2/1.84ins .. Reckon we might be just a little rusty when we return to the FLY this Easter..
