Marlin updates rimfire line with XT Series

These look much the same to the existing line of Marlin rimfires, but with what looks suspiciously like an Accutrigger, some new stock features and an alteration to the design of the bolt to make it easier to lift.

Also some new youth models.

newly designed synthetic stock and an innovative series of youth rifles. The XT Series
rifles are available in 22 LR, 22 WMR and 17 HMR calibers in a variety of wood,
laminate and synthetic stocked versions.
The new XT Pro-Fire® trigger system is user adjustable from 3 pounds to 6 pounds
providing the shooter a clean, crisp trigger pull with virtually zero creep. Matched with
Marlin’s patented Micro-Groove® rifling, the XT rifle offers the shooter the ultimate in
tack-driving accuracy. In addition, the XT Series rifles offer the newly designed trigger
safety, preventing the trigger from being pulled until the trigger safety is fully depressed

The newly designed XT synthetic stock is based on years of consumer research and

Do Marlin & Savage have ties wiht one another?
I always thought the rimfire lines looked the same with a few difference.
But then remington bought out Marlin in the last 18months (didn't they?).

I think it's a case of convergent evolution TBH. Same function, same environment so they have kind of ended up similar.

Mind you, Savage came out with the thumbhole BTVS then all of a sudden CZ added a thumbhole and so did Marlin - no doubt seeing how popular the TH option was.

Now Marlin has come out with what looks a lot like an Accurtigger - but then again maybe the internals etc are altogether different.

Either way, more choice and more competition are a plus for shooters.

Don't forget that Marlin's XS-7s and XL-7s have that "trigger with a shoe" on them, also. They might as well have said, "Since Savage was beating our arse at sales, we had to imitate the Accutrigger, or else we'd never sell another rifle".
That Marlin trigger isn't anything like the Accutrigger, except in appearance, it uses another system to fire the rifle. It amounts to the same thing, but isn't quite like it.

I like my two Marlins a lot, but the sale to Remington bodes ill for them , IMHO. Remington shits in their own nest more often than not, the dumb bastards just can't get anything right. Their marketing people should be hung by the neck until dead, along with their QC folks, if they have any QC folks.



If you think I'm being harsh to Remington, think again, they have discontinued all the .17 Fireball variations except one! because of lack of sales. They couldn't sell many because for two years after building the first ones, they didn't support them in any way, no umprimed cases for sale, for example. Well damn, if you don't sell brass so folks can make their own ammo as opposed to buying Remington's overpriced factory crap, then NO, the rifles won't sell. Cause and effect. Remington in general is a Marketing disaster, great ideas with no support.

well i have a marlin xl7 in 270 & it shoots great , i like the trigger very much , & if they now have this trigger on there rimfires that might be enough to sway me there way .

Marlin would have had their eye on the sales of the thumbhole stocked Savage rimfires also - and brought out their versions last year. Now CZ are on the thumbhole bandwagon - but they still have a phobia of stainless steel.....
