Q 500m Fly Spotting Scopes & Cartridges
Re: Q 500m Fly Spotting Scopes & Cartridges
How the hell did we get so far off track! If some-one really want's to talk about March scopes will they have decency to start a new thread. I for one have had enough of this 'off-course' discussion, it's way outside the parameters set by the original post.

Sean,
I do not recall your email for a stock and I apologize for this. But I can tell you I would respond to it if I recieved it. I am home with the flu today so I will not see my emails till tomorrow. I will respond if it is there. My email address is jim@kelbly.com.
To PeteVM I am sorry this thread is not going the way it started and I will be glad to start a new thread.
To TonyZ your March sitting in the box does nobody any good, if there is a problem we would love to see you send it back so Deon can check and see what the problem is. This way we can get you the scope back in good working order. As I said before Deon wants you to have the best scope which is what you paid for.

Geoff i finally got around to having a look at the results of the Melbourne Fly not long after i had John McQ around home the other night. He told me a bit about the shoot and the conditions there so after seeing where you placed, i reckon there are going to be a few chasing you for information as to how to go about shooting this match. Obviously the years of duelling it out with the likes of MattP and the Brothers Grim from SA has you in good stead for shooting a lowly old Fly match. Well done mate. What is this only your second match? I reckon after a year or so you will be the contender for the SOTY. There are a bunch of people that have been around for years that have never come close to either that score or placing. Again, well done.

Re: Q 500m Fly Spotting Scopes & Cartridges
G'Day Tony,
nah I've never met Matt P and I'm not sure who the Brothers Grim are, I've been on the SR BR circuit since 1997, I've only been to a few FO matches but I did start with a .223 and 75gn Amaxes in a Rem700 and Jewel HVR set about 4oz for the Emergency Services Games down here after joining the CFA about 4 years ago.
About 2 1/2 years ago I settled on the 6x47lapua for FO shooting no more than 2hrs from home to avoid extra costs like accomodation and fuel. So far I've only shot 2 fly matches and I've just checked; I came 2nd in both LG classes (May 2009 and Nov 2010). So maybe I've just been lucky twice.......
I did enjoy the old FO Championship target but now the all black blob is not ideal for precision aiming and is less attractive to aim at, unlike the fly target which fairly easy to see but scoring wise, is very unforgiving to stray shots. So I figured I'd try the 500m fly (all my shooting must fit in with shift work) and I was just after info from the regular crowd of 500m Fly shooters so I could set up for the local matches. So I dunno about the SOTY!

TonyZ,
It is quite obvious that you are avoiding me, so therefore I must conclude that you do not have a problem with your March scope as you spoke of earlier in this thread. Does not make you look good. I really do not know why you would bring up a problem with a product and then not want to discuss said problem. I feel you are just trying to make March look bad for some unknown reason.
If you want the best optics to give you the best sight picture at 1000 yards, the March is the best scope we have seen in 50 plus years of short and long range shooting. This is why Kelbly's has associated with Deon, they are the best bar none.

Welcome to the Forums James, pretty fair to expect details and serial numbers of a "defective product" if it's call such on an open forum. Especially since you have offered to repair it.
Looking forward to reviews on the 3-24x42 FFP.

It's interesting to draw parallels between what's happening here and some of my experiences with warranty stuff. I have on many occasions with IT gear returned items that are faulty knowing that the people who are ultimately going to test them for the flaw will not be able to run the same tests I did to reproduce the problem. That's particularly so if it's intermittent. Sometimes it puts you in a situation where you just bin it and start again.
As such I don't think it's necessary for people to pass judgement one way or another on this issue. As much as we would like to see Tony Z take up the offer he may well have legitimate reasons for not doing so. That is between the two parties to work out.
Just my $0.02 worth.

Interesting, but the fact is that Tony told the World that he has a product with a problem.
Now the World distributor has taken the time to come on and made an offer to follow it up - how often would that happen in this day and age?
It would be extremely odd if the offer was not taken up, and would only cause people to wonder what the reluctance is, or as one shooter suggested to me, if the 'faulty' scope even exists. You can't help people being curious. What possible reasons would anyone have for not wanting a faulty product rectified?
We can only watch and see what the result is.

All the time actually. That's just modern marketing.jimbo wrote: Interesting, but the fact is that Tony told the World that he has a product with a problem.

But the outcome isn't necessarily favourable to anyone. For instance they could go over it and find nothing wrong because as I suggested, it's possible that they cannot follow the scenario needed to reproduce the issue. Will they then come back quite genuinely and say "The product was fine. Nothing wrong with it." when the issue may actually still exist. Owner may on-sell it to person who reproduces the same issue. The problem goes on and people only remember how good the distributor was about it.
Just modern marketing
That's a negative possible outcome (for the consumer) but still a possible outcome. It's also not to cast a negative image of Kelby's, who is most likely in all ways, acting completely above board.
Like I said.
I don't think it's necessary for people to pass judgement one way or another on this issue.

If as stated it was backlash, well backlash is backlash so it shouldn't be to hard to replicate.
And you may be right in that the cause may not be able to be found but if it's not looked at then it's a moot point is it not.
Regards Chris.

Looks like most agree that there is nothing wrong with the scope and that i have other motives. Since that is the consensus, then i have one perfect 10-60 March for sale $3000 plus post. PM me and i will send you my bank details and it will be posted immediately the funds transfer. Problem solved.

Re: Q 500m Fly Spotting Scopes & Cartridges
Tony I think the issue is that it appears logical that people reading this thread would expect you to provide James your serial number & send the scope in for repair if it is broken. The fact that you have chosen not to take that option is what has raised the suspicion that the scope may in fact not be broken and that perhaps you have ulterior motives for suggesting the scope is faulty. I don't think that is an irrational conclusion to draw.
I and most on this thread don't know you, we can only base our opinions on the information represented in this thread. If one is going to make public claims about the quality and functionality/reliability of a product then in my opinion one has a moral imperative to stand behind those claims publicly. Simply my opinion, others may hold a different view.

Tony Z, just have it looked at... either way the outcome has to be favourable for you. If there is a problem then warranty will fix the issue, if no issue found then sell it on as a scope with no problem!
Cheers

No Tony, the problem is far from solved.Tony Z wrote:Looks like most agree that there is nothing wrong with the scope and that i have other motives. You have stated that this scope in your opinion is faulty. Do you still stand behind that statement?
If you do, then do you feel that it is right that you should offer for sale a faulty item? Really?
If that is the case then you and I must have some different moral values.
You want to solve the problem? Simple. Give Jim the serial number and he will arrange for the scope to be examined in Japan, and then you can sell it with a clear conscience. Is that so hard?
You reluctance to do this is doing nothing for your credibility. You got yourself into this - take the simple way out as I have suggested.

Re: Q 500m Fly Spotting Scopes & Cartridges
Well this is what it comes down to. I sell it i am a mongrel for selling a faulty scope off to some poor sucker. I send it off and the results come back negative and i get made out to be someone with suspect motives. Or have a video made of the scopes faults and place them up for all to see and prove my claims. Linked to every forum i can think of. But then get told to take a hike on the patch up job. Catch 22. Either way i am going to end up with the scope so it looks like the latter option is the best.
You know what? Sometimes it is better to let sleeping dogs lie and i should have kept my mouth shut as i have for the past nine months. But pictures can inspire a thousand words, but in this case i suspect it may be deathly silent.
Thanks to all for the supportive messages.
