Ok All

Full results are up in the results section for the last 1000yd match for the 2010 year in Townsville. As JR indicated it was another great day with rather mild conditions and showers of rain from the early wet that we have been getting. This made the day a challenge as if there was no breeze you could guarantee that the group was going to have a good dose of vertical.

Well done to Alan H who dropped in and shot with us and showed all the LG boys a lesson with a fabulous 4.361" day agg.

I would also like to add that this year has seen some overall great results for the shooters in Townsville and a number of new shooters that have started out over the year.

In particular I would like to acknowledge Tony Z and JR who have set a number of new Aussie records over the year which include:

Tony Z - LG 6 match group agg 5.154", LG 6 match score agg 290.8, LG day agg 3.690"
JR - HG 6 match group agg 6.756"

Well done guys these are some very nice results.

I would like to say a well done to all the TSV crew. These numbers Alan mentioned are a collaborate effort from all the members and not one single aggregate group or score record belongs to any one individual. They all belong to the club. It is no secret that Townsville has set out to take every record there is to have in both LG and HG. This was an undertaking started quite some years ago by a core group that kept this all going to the point where the whole club is heavily involved in driving to a goal.
Next year sees me out of LG and back into the real world of HG. I have enjoyed the challenge thrown down to run a 6BR for an entire season and have been very fortunate to have had a bunch of assistance with the development of the rifle and a big thanks to those that helped source those magnificent Sierra bullets of which i have exactly 21 left. I recently tested the rifle on Alan Hickmott's home range where i have tested virtually thousands of cartridge combinations over the span of quite some years. He took me up on the offer of shooting the 6BR for the last match, and like all things lent, you get your ass handed back to you. He is no mug and many of you may recall him from years gone by at various fullbore shoots he has attended. This match is the first one he has attended in over 2 years and is his one and only 1K match to date. I have offered the rifle for him to use for next season, so we will see how far he can take the 6 match aggs down. So albow, you haven't seen the last of that gun yet. By the way Al, well done on the 6 match score and group aggs.

The great news is that there is going to be 5 HGs for next season and the goal is for someone to break the 4 inch group mark and for the group 6 match to be lowered below 6 inch. Everyone has their bullets and new barrels, JR with his BIBs and soon to have 210s for the Hart, Jeff H has thousands of near perfect 200 SMKs and a Krieger 11.25 twist 30 cal barrel to replace the tired 270 and moves on into a 30 Redneck case. Bob Luther has his batch of 210s from the US and then there is Greg H. No-one is quite sure where Greg is going, but it will be with a big 30 cal with any of about 5 projectile choices and any number of barrel twist options. That should be entertaining.
As for me and my new HG, well i have trued and sleeved the Long Branch N0 4, converted the trigger to a two lever and the barrel has been lapped to a very fine tolerance by the 10,000 or so ex mil cartridges fired down it. I have just literally tripped over some really great Super 174 grain pills and IMI cases. They have been the door stop in the gun room for about the last 15 years so they should be well and truly stress relieved. The bullets spin up like no other i have ever had on the Juenke. Truly a one of a kind bullet. As you can see, no expense was met in my endeavor to get to the bottom of the heap in HG. Even the coach bolts used to hold the action into the treated pine stock are galvanized so they match the sleeve. Nothing but the best

Tony and Jeff

congratulations on the standard and consistency that you both have been able to maintain in 1000yd BR competitons this year.

Your results speak for themselves.

Alan (albow)

likewise, congratulations on your 1000yd BR results this year, and thanks mate, for the behind the scenes work you continue to do.

The regular "no fuss" provision of results for the Postal Matches was greatly appreciated.

No problems on the postal side of things it is great to be involved.

TZ

I hope that Alan takes you up on the offer to shoot the 6BR again next year because based on the results from the weekend he will be a suitable adversary to keep us keen and trying to beat that little bugger   I am working on how to knock off that pop gun...... :rifle:
