The perfect rimfire.!!

Post by native hunter »

G"day All
In my obsessive search for rimfire knowledge I have come across many postings by a certain person in the states that have been very informative and I have learnt lots from but this one following takes the cake.!!!

My friends:

I have a rifle I want to put in the classified section, but I don’t know how just yet…

I just mailed Friend Wilbur a check for 25 times the normal amout required to post in the classifieds….25times….I think?

I did this because I want to make a statement and it may seem like advertising……

I have built these little rimfire benchrest guns as long as anyone….

I have dreamed of the ultimate gun…..one that shoots any ammo, has no flyers, and can win any match in which the shooter can point it correctly…

My friends, I have built that gun……..

I have known this, about this gun, for about two months now, but, I’ve spent a great deal of time and expense trying to determine why this gun is so accurate…

I have some answers, but not all…

I’m shortly, going to put this rifle up for sale……

As soon as friend Wilber gets my money, and, as soon as I can figure out how to post on his classified section, this rifle will be put up for sale…

Well there it is a gun thats shoots any ammo and has no flyers and can win any match.!!
Everyone raves about this bloke but I think from his writings he has a very broad rimfire rifle building base but at times seems a bit off the planet.!!
And yes his guns shoot but the price they fetch almost always attracts well seasoned shooters, maybe thats why they shoot so well.??

Bill Calfee is no ones fool ..................get that straight, and yes his rifles seem to end up in the hands of good shooters,Brett would be able to elaborate a bit on this as I think he has had correspondence with Bill himself.I know someone who had the pleasure of using one of team USA's rifles at the titles in Italy and they said the rifle was awsome to use........................................I would like to have a range session with one thats for sure.

Yes Bill talks like a back woods hick but that is definately not what his mind works like. A great but maybe slightly eccentric man.
His guns bring huge money because they are worth it.

There is no doubt that Calfee knows how to put a rimfire together. Where he has fallen out of favor is his insistence that the principles he uses on those rimfires can transfer to match winning centerfires. Should i specify his insistence about tuners. There are tuners out there that are working, if you want to call it that, but they are not of the manner that Calfee babbles on about where they are cantilevered beyond the muzzle as are his on rimfires. He has been openly challenged to prove his theories and present a match winning centerfire for SR BR, but as yet, nothing has come forth.
In terms of accuracy, rimfires are ordinary at best and what is not fully or clearly talked about with these rifles built by Calfee is that he has direct access to specific batches of Eley ammunition that he passes on with the sale of each Spec rifle.
He has used and abused BRC to the point where he was given a closed forum to post his crap on, where no-one could reply, thank fuck, to his non specific bullshit. Personally i, like many others, believe the guy was let out of the asylum for a short period to produce a rifle, then locked up again for the remainder of the year where his proxy writing was actually the writing of his doctor/nurse/carer once his muttering could be decyphered.
This attempt to sell a rifle on BRC is just another way to get around Wilbur's heavy monitoring of his posts that inflamed so many. I equate him to Micheal Jackson, a genius in his art, but there are just some things he should have never fucked with.

Tony dont worry about the centrefire blokes as Bill has more than enough rimfire blokes of side as it is,he talks in riddles at times and you can almost hear him laughing to his self after he posts some of his cryptic, redneck sounding questions and answers.
You may be correct that he is out of his depth with the centrefire stuff but there is not doubting his expertise when it comes to rimfire related smithing/info.

After readin' a fair bit of his scribblin's, it seems to me that Friend Bill, although a good 'smith by all reports, clearly has two dicks....

No-one could be that silly tugging on just one...
