Re: Late to the whole 17HMR FAD
I wish I have a faction of the money this Fad will make in the next 20, nah let's make it, the next 50 years.
I'll be living on easy street.
And all of my Mates will be there too.

G"Day Ron
I think that the HMR would not satisfy your need for accuracy as you have seen what good rimfires can do and no matter what everyone states about this HMR ,it does not perform, end of story.
Yeah Knackers has some nice 50mtr groups but shit that can be done with a .22lr.!!!and probably bettered with the .22lr at 100mtrs.
No disrespect to you Knackers.
Just look at all the blokes that have had one and sold them.!!!!
Stick with what you know works.

Ah, Native Hunter speaks, with his great length and breadth of personal experience as a seasoned HMR owner.
Oh wait - he's never owned one.

I owned one and sold it, and love using my 204 instead. If you want one, buy it and find out for yourself if it suits, jesus it's a rifle not a heart transplant.

Re: Late to the whole 17HMR FAD
Hi NH , i dont do to much hunting anymore maybe once a year if im lucky, but do alot of paper punching. I would buy a 17hmr in a Rem 504 HB if one became available , but not really because of th caliber more for the rifle itself, but then again id prefer if it was in 22lr so i could use it in comps. Like ive already said dont go hunting much, so my Rem 700 in 22 hornet that Shanes working on will do ME just fine. Cheers Ron

hi Ron,
is the action on the remington 504 similar to the older 541's? as in 6 rear locking lugs, same concept as the model 788.

Re: Late to the whole 17HMR FAD
Hi andrewk , im not sure. From what i have read up on the 504s is that quality is down from the big green, cost cutting apparently. And that the 17hmrs are suppose to be tack drivers out of the box, where as the 22lrs are lemons and need a heap of work to get to shoot. But i like a challenge ! Cheers Ron

I'm the opposite - I hate shooting targets and hunt heaps.
So the HMR suits me fine + a box of 50 rounds sees a lot of kills.
Expensive hobby, it ain't.
That would be speedboats, drag cars or children...

Sure mate, I'm an expert on the .458 Lott as I saw one at the range one time and read about them on the interwebs.

Re: Late to the whole 17HMR FAD
I'll be keeping mine, its the second one I've had, and I reckon they are the ultimate hunting rimfire.
PS, Native my Annie can shoot a smaller group at 100 than the hummer, but that is only when I use premium match grade ammo, they only make hunting grade ammo for the Hummer, I would love to see what match grade ammo in the hummer would do.
Just get one Ron and kill shit with it.
