Ill be going the stainless T3 in .204 shortly. I wanted something that wont cost an arm and a leg, and is accurate enough that i dont need to stuff around with it other then sorting out a load. The stainless synth works for me as it will be my workhorse, and no doubt see some rough times.

Ultimately the decision came down to meeting my weight requirements, the size requirements(spotlighting with a long barrel is a pita) and accuracy. For what i needed, the T3 .204 come out on top. The .243 VT is good, but to much gun to be lugging around all day so its getting relegated to more specialist duties.

Go the T3, for the price they are hard to beat.

Grimo the plastic is fine.
Trevort I got no problem with the 204 it has it's merits and drawbacks like any other cartridge.
Will be interesting to see who's more accurate with our t3's though.

Went to O reilys yesterday and had a feel of a few guns which had looked good on the net, end result was i narrowed the list down to 2, Sako 85 Varmint Laminated Stainless right hand 204 & Savage Model 12 VLP DBM left hand 204.

Some facts about the 2 guns. Both 204's have heavy stainless barrels which are fluted, Savage is 26 and the Sako is 24, both floated, stocks are both laminated, both have detachable mags Savage holds 4 Sako holds 6, Savage triger is acutrigger adjustable, Sako has a set trigger, Savage weighs in at 10 pounds and the sako at 9. Rings for the Savage are about $100 Sako $250 aprox, from reports i have read both shoot well and will require bedding.

Guns feel very similar when held except that the Savage has a left bolt, the BIG difference is the price Savage $1500 Sako $2500

Want to do the deal tomorrow, just after peoples thoughts, i am confused and have no finger nails left.

Mate buy a tikka ruger or cz shoot and enjoy. Easy and any of those will work great. Don't get carried away with the custom gun thing unless you want a dedicated safe queen or 6

The Tika felt ok but i prefer the feel of timber, it felt plasticy like a toy, the ruger i tried was really tight in the bolt, kept jamming and wasnt smooth like the others and felt to thick in the grip, didnt try a CZ, do they come in a varmint with heavy barrel?

Neither of the 2 guns i mentioned are customised, bedding will be as far as i go and custom loads.

The cz varmint come in wood and a varmint kevlar has detach mag and set trigger both are way lighter than the others mentioned prob 7-8 lbs the wood stock version is around $1100 the kevlar $1400-1500 also a laminate version available
