August Long Range Weekend

Post by a.JR »

Hi all , This weekend at the Townsville range is a double ,Sat 7th is at 550 yds and Sunday 8th is 1000yds ,std 4 target agg for 550 and 2 target agg for 1K.. I 'm predicting perfect conditions for Sunday ,so much so i plan on shooting a new AUS 10 shot group record .. Lets hope Al and Tony and the rest of of the guys have the best gear ready to shoot some more bests as well .. My gun is ready to shoot a sub 3 inch group if i can get it together,my fingers are crossed and i pulled out more of the bullet batch that has already been used to set the world record in the US ..JR..Jeff Rogers..ps will keep u posted

Thanks for the well wishes Macca, funny enough not everyone involved in LRBR in the south thinks like you..Mr Mcquire you seem a might skeptical this morning John , i made one weather call that was right already this decade .. Hear that you and Bob are making the journey anyhow .. By the way i don't think that there is any of the horrible green stuff that you drink left contaminating my fridge..JR..Jeff Rogers

Well yesterday saw the 550yd match run however I was not there so I will leave JR to give an update on how the day panned. While he did not shoot he was RO for the day and I will upload the full results later tonight.

Today also saw the 1000yd match run and what a day it was

The unfortunate crew that got the bench draw for the first detail had an unbelievable amount of mirage and the old mango wind gusting and switching down range which seemed to hang around all day although the mirage did improve as the day went on.

Considering the conditions there were a number of good results posted to add into the 6 match results for the year with some pending records to be set if things continue as they have so far this year.

Full results are in the results section however overview is:

HG score and group aggs went to JR with 187.4 & 8.607"

LG score and group aggs went to Tony Z with 94.3 and 7.475"

We'll be back into it again next month for the next postal on the 12th of September so see you there!

Hi all , 550 on Sat was a tough match , bullet supply is a small problem for me presently so i sat this one out .. I did get to view all from the ROs position , you see way more than what you do with a scope in front of you and what i saw was a tough set of breezes ,all day long.. I also saw some flag calls that didn't work out very well.. 2 wins for the Mackay travellers ,guess it was worth the 250 mile drive .. John was very happy to see these results with his group win in L/G with his little 6.5 and Bobs score win with the 30x47 left him asking us*where were all the big guns now* Suffice to say the the H/Gs will want to forget Sat all together.. Anyway lots of matchs this year ,lots of happy smiling faces and plenty of experience in tricky flag reading .. See ya next match..JR..Jeff Rogers
