1000yd range approved for Wingham

Post by RDavies »

I heard recentley that Wingham rifle club (near Taree NSW) has had their 1000yd range approved. The mound is pretty much there now, just needs a bit more soil. Being a NRAA/full bore/F class club, it will prodominantly be shot prone, but they are very aware of 1000yd BR being shot off benches,so they have been discussing options for some benches, whether temporary or whatever.
With the generaly easy conditions at Wingham, it should be good for some good groups if some dedicated 1000yd shooters start to make the most of the range.
With the new 1000yd range in W.A, and the 1500yd range at Coonabarabran, a few more shooters around the place might start building some serious long range rifles.

Good news Rod, pretty close too really. If they get some benches up as well that would be great.

Klicker, just tell him there is a fly on the target, unless he is one of the lucky March scope owners, he wont be able to see it anyway.
Bowhunter. Cessnock range about 10 minutes drive from your place and is shooting 800yds next Saturday and 900yds the next Saturday. You might want to turn up for a go. I wont be at Cessnock on the weekends, but if Wingham shoots 1000yds midweek, I could pick you up on the way.

The strip next to the race course isn't cessnock Airport's test strip :P

I start a couple of months annual leave in about ten days, will definitely turn up for a few shoots.
What is the weight limit for F class, my big gun is nearly 17 pounds. Have a HB 223 also but it's a 1 in 12 twist and a T3 light 1 in 7.
thanks for the invite

Bring your big gun, so long as your calibire isn't bigger than 8mm, its OK.. F-Open is 10Kg (or 22Lbs).. so your big gun is now a light gun

I won't be there this weekend, but I can put you in touch with some guys that will be. I'm not sure Rod will be there either. sorry just noticed you're not on leave for a while.. Just drop me a pm and we'll tee something up.
