have you guy's seen the big bore 9mm , 45 & 50 cal air rifle

Post by deadkelly »

i have seen some full on air rifles on you tube 9mm ,45 & 50 cal . & there's a bloke in the states that custom makes his & sells them for $580 US .
wow they look like a bit of fun . can we get them over here ? do any of you guy's have them .
i had my mate from a gunshop here last night shooting toads with his 22 cal air rifle . he didn't believe me about 45 & 50 cal ones , so we spent about 3 hrs watching all the big bore hunting clips on you tube . & looking at the web sights .

There are some custom built ones by Dennis Quackenbush http://www.quackenbushairguns.com/ and Gary Barnes http://www.glbarnes.com/ also some Chinese ones here

There are some great ones, and they are so cheap too (well in comparison).

When I was in the states I was going to buy a Sam Yang 909s .45 (http://www.pyramydair.com/p/big-bore-90 ... yang.shtml) for a bit of fun but before I had the chance to buy it my job looked like it was going to wrap up so all that got put on hold. I've shot the Career rifles and they are great fun with loads of power. I also like the Dragon Slayer .50, but it's a bit ugly.

Wish I could have brought them home with me. I'd love to nail a few cats with the .45 or .50 cal
:hunting:

Hmm, Big airguns... How about the 100 caliber HARP PCP... I bet that would make a mess of the bunnies ;)

Anyway, back to stuff we can actually own... There's a good article here: http://www.predatorxtreme-digital.com/p ... pg=23#pg23

But I don't know of anyone who imports the larger calibers into Australia... Theoretically, they are all category A. Though as the article mentions, accuracy is still the key and sometimes the .22 air rifle is still the better choice.

I have just brought a sam yang 909 .45 it was tuned before i brought it to 220+ fpe i am curently using 236g hollowpoints. Have only shot out to 50m deadly accurate mushroom to over 25mm in a clay bank. Shot a hare and wallaby (live in new zealand) using solid 156g went straight through but smashed them up.
