Not so new rifle....

Post by Curtley78 »

G'day Fellas,

Just thought I would post a few pics of my latest acquisition-a Walther .22 Target rifle.

For some time now (18 years) I have had a burning desire to find a classic Walther Target Rifle. I purchased this rifle as I will be shooting prone from the start of next season.

I had this particular rifle on lay by for almost twelve months but with the wedding, honeymoon and all of the other 'expensive' hobbies that I engage in, I struggled to get the shekels together and although I paid through the nose for it, sold a kidney and signed off my first born child to a Gypsy I am more then satisfied.

I am hoping to give it a run on Tuesday night.

The rifle also has a bit of history, I was informed that it was owned by PA of Horsley Park. Having thoroughly inspected the bolt assembly and bolt face I would be inclined to believe that it has had very little use.

The rifle included a set of Centra front and rear adjustable apertures, the rear sight has adjustable light filters and the Walnut stock is also in exceptional condition.

They just don't manufacture rifles like they used to.

Apologies for the BR equipment-it doesn't compliment a Prone Rifle.

Regards

So, Tuesday night, we get another proner, eh! Good stuff!

I was wondering when we'd see you get down off the bench, and mix it up with the rest of us!

And what's Leanne going to shoot? You should buy her an ultra-modern Annie prone free rifle :)

Can I have a shoot of it?

Cheers,
- bec

G'day Ron,

Unfortunately I will be unable to shoot this weekend at North Rocks as I have family coming down from Queensland. The sights are awesome although I have had to blow the dust from them with canned air.

The Winchester 52, I have only ever seen one previously. Was that their Prone Rifle?

G'day Bec,

A new Anschutz.....? No thanks. Too expensive. Leanne also has a Walther-although we are still sourcing a few bits & pieces such as the barrel sleeve for the foresight. We also have a 54 Anschutz at our disposal.

Regards

Hi Sean , thats too bad Leanne and you cant make it to North Rocks. This will be the last prize shoot at this range, as you know its moving around the corner. The winnie is set up for bench at the moment but it has a 6-24 x 40 Lynxs, i guess you could shoot prone, but i tend to put a period scope and keep it riggy didge. Unertal , redfield or lyman scope with the really long tube and external knobs would just set it off i rekon. I hope to see you both at West WYalong then ? Cheers Ron

G'day Ron,

I have my eye on a 6-24 Lynx at the moment for a project rifle that I am slowly piecing together. I also like rifles to match the period hence why my old Anschutz has a Lyman.

I think an old Unertl would make that Winchester look superb.

Leanne and I will both attempt to get out to West Wyalong (I have family there) what are the dates?

Regards
