I have had a look through a Sightron 36x and I couldnt see any difference between it and the Weaver T 36 either.
Just wanted to be sure it wasn't just me. Might have to invest in one or two or oh well you know how it goes.

How did you find the burris ballistic Plex compared to the others? is is the new fullfield II? I am thinking of an HMR and the 4.5-14X44(?) sounds like a good match with the plex hairs beign good for ranges between 130 and 180m ish

For me
- I have leuplod VXIII 4.5-14X50 on my Blaser .223/308. Had the TMR reticlue put on it last year (Mildot but with lines at 1/2mil distances so intrudes much less and more usable)- very good for doing offsets. I was going to buy a new lightforce with NP-2 reticule but the weight eventually put me off.
- Putting a Mueller 4-15X50 on my old Remmington 700 VS .223 as a backup rifle
- Have Bushnell Trophy 4-12X40 and Simmons equivalent on my .22lr - the Bushnell trophy is better with finer cross hairs

Personally for a varminter I'd like a little more than 12 X i.e. 14-16for better long range resolution and those long range shots where the rabbit is really just a spot in the scope

It is the new fullfield with the plex reticule. A very nice scope and difficult to pick between it and my VX2 Leupys...Would buy another without hesitation.

Leupolds for me!!

Post by Ackley Improved »

Scopes I use are Leupold and Nightforce.

Currently using a 8.5-25X50 LR Leupold with varmint reticle on a Remington Police 308.

For my soon to be 20 Vartarg rifle, it will the the same again, or maybe just to try something different a Zeiss 6.5-20X50 Conquest scope. If it turns out to be more expensive than the Leupold, well I wont choose the Zeiss!!!

Nightforce on Benchguns..

I have never had a problem with the Leupy, and will remain using them always on varmint/hunting rifles.

If the Leupolds were out of my price range, I'd look towards the Weavers!!

Cheers

Burris Ballistic Plex - good deal on EBAY

Post by Davyd »

FYI

Just ordered the burris ballistic Plex 4.5-14X42 AO off ebay - in a good deal coming with the compact spotting scope 14-24X50 for us$319 WITH THE SPOTTING SCOPE. With postage and insurance $A461 all up

As long as it gets here (and the seller has some history) - this looks like a great deal. Actually bought two sets - one for me and one for a friend

P.s. If you are going to buy ask for postage and insurnace combined of US$20 before you buy - save $10 USD

Now all I need to do is get the 17HMR to put it on - hold out for the Sako or go for the CZ with set trigger???

Weaver grandslam 6x20x40 on the Kimber pro-varmint 22-250.
Leupold VX111 on the Browning 7mm-08
Bushnell 4200 2.5 x10x40 0n the Miroku 223,
Of all these scopes I would unhesitatingly recomend the Elite 4200 in whatever configuration that suits for, whatever purpose you have.
They are, in my opinion the best scopes in the world for the money, get them before others realise this and the price equates to a lesser quality VX111.
regards Owen.

I have
2 Leupold VX2 3-9 x50
1 Leupold VX2 4-12 x50
1 Leupold VX1 4-12 x40
1 Hunter 4x40 (old as) exc optics
1 Tasco 8x50
1 Mark 6x40 (old as) exc optics
1 Cheap n Nasty 3-9x40 Illum rectile job.

I have a natural desire toward Leupold these days and am slowly replacing the optics on on my non Leupold guns.

My 243 Tikka Hunter Had a Nikko 4-12x42 on it but I got rid of it n favour of the Leupold VX2 4-12 x50.

I use a 30 year old Weaver 3-9X40 on my 223. The kahles 2.5-10X50 would be better but I just can't get myself to take it off the 270. :)

Had lots of Leupolds incl. 6 x AO compact on my Brno model 1 , M8 8 x 40 (2 of) and 12 x 40 , Vari X 111 6.5 - 20 x 40 and 4.5 - 14 x 40 , have a VX111 6.5 - 20 x 50 LRT on my .243 Ackley .
Have a Bushnell Elite 4200 in 4 - 16 x 40 on my Sako .17 Rem .
Meopta 7 x 50 Artemis 2000 on my K Hornet , Meopta Meostar R1 3 - 10 x 50 on my 7mm WSM .
Had a top of the range Burris 6 - 18 x 40 on my Sako Swift years ago but it crapped itself so not buying them anymore .
Had a couple of Tascos when I was a young fella but buying better quality now .
All my current scopes are good but I like the Meoptas for outright quality and value . Not the biggest range though .
Like the Leupold optics but not their adjustments .
Bushnell 4200 adjustments and resolution good but suffers with unwanted flare compared to Leupold and Meopta .
