Ross River barra

Post by WTranger »

I thought I might share with you this beauty caught in the middle of the city at Aplins weir. My mate caught this one along with 2 more slightly smaller in one afternoon session. This one measured 1230mm , 30mm over max.

Yeah ogre6br you notice when they are females they tend to become wider and more solid, probably around the 800mm mark, the males are more slender and don't seem to be as round but they probably change when they are a bit smaller you only seem to notice around that 800mm mark.

Isn't that the same with breeding females in our species too

Yeah thanks Rolcar52, there are a heap of fish like this in the river and a few even bigger. I know when the DPI conducted electro fishing throughout the upper reaches of the fresh they tagged some monsters around 30kg and a heap around the same size of this one. Just goes to show you what a healthy riverway and a good stocking program can do. I think I caught about 15 barra in a month with the smallest measuring 75cm and the best part is I just walked down from the house with the rod and castnet in hand.
