A new hobby

Post by Brad Y »

It only took three episodes of BBQ Pitmasters on fox to ignite this new interest.... heres tonights dinner pork shoulder and ribs. The shoulder looks like it will be in for 9hrs and the ribs 5 hrs (low and slow). Pork has already been on 4hrs when I took this pic. Shoulder will make pulled pork later tonight. All you need to do this is a weber charcoal BBQ, the appropriate meat, access to google and an appetite... Sure a BBQ is an Aussie thing, but the Yanks have it so right...

Yep, first attempt after a lot of research. Borrowed some gear from a mate and will be using his new still.

The mash is bubbling away nicely now. Be a while before it's ready for distilling though.

Even managed to find the 'proper' Ball Mason jars locally :D

Hmmm, just been researching. Bastard government wants to screw over everyone these days....

Let's leave it at: I'm making 'fuel' for my ethanol engines.

OS Engines now produce 'green' ethanol engines, which appear to be bugger all different from the methanol burning engines.

Ethanol, methanol, ethanol, Methanol, ethanol, ethanol, methanol, methanol.

See what I did there Raven. A two stroke glow engine won't see the difference either.

True, but it doesn't work the same for humans. You wouldn't "see" the difference...

OS's claim of a engine specifically designed for ethanol somewhat interesting. Of course, once you buy one of their 'Bio-Ethanol' engine (the only one on the market) it locks you into buying the only fuel that's available for it. Theirs!
But as you say, the engine is unlikely to notice so why not make your own?
