Don't buy a Colorado

Everything that is outdoors and not hunting or shooting. Talk about fishing, 4wd, archery, camping, motorbike riding etc etc.

Good to hear, I'm due for changeover around August and think the LTZ 7 is the way to go.

Trev. Take a look at a Jeep Grand Cherokee then. We've got one, honestly I'm yet to drive a diesel to match it for performance from its engine, I've driven a Colorado 7 and I think the jeep is a more powerful vehicle and a better ride. We get about 8/100 km as an all round average inclusive of town driving, highway driving and everything in between. A really nice vehicle to drive, just expensive for parts, although we are yet to replace anything from our own pocket due to the jeep warranty. We will be selling ours at 100,000 km and probably going back to a landcruiser or a prado, mostly due to the fact that we then have a local dealer, currently our jeep dealer is 300km away.

Haha yeah we get that you brought a jeep everywhere we go. To be honest the reason we won't be buying another isn't so much to do with the car as it was the dealer.

The dealer turned out to be a condescending prick. I took it to Wagga to get a service and part of the deal is that you get a courtesy car for the day, but I "didn't need it because I was young" took a rocket from my old man to finally give them one. They said they replaced parts that clearly weren't (put witness marks on them) and that sort of thing. We've replaced both shocks as they were weepy, that's it I think. Not too bad for 85,000 km of reasonably rough driving. Held up better than a Nissan navara does anyways.

Keith, purely as a commuter, it's been great, no issues really, maybe we got lucky? I dunno. But we are reasonably happy with it, it's no cruiser, but it's unfair to compare a $70,000 vehicle to a $120,000 vehicle. We just prefer the bigger car, my brothers are both clearing 6 foot and 100 kg quite easily, so it's too small really.

If the dealer is playing games like that speak to the Manager or contact head office. Head office does not like the new owner experience being turned sour at the first service. People tend to tell their friends....which hurts sales.

I've heard of another Chrysler dealer that does similar. In one case, unplugging the windscreen washer hose from the hood (which wasn't needed) and then letting it dangle into the fan belts/pulleys. Similarly, I recall they left a hose or something hanging off as well. It's a poor reflection on their staff, or their training, or the mindset of the company.

Having said that, bad service isn't limited to a single company.

On the other hand I had good experience with my Holden dealer. The passenger door swung shut and clipped the corner of some test equip or whatever and put a nasty hole into my door trim. Dealer apologized, promised to replace it, ordered in a new one, and fixed it straight away. Yes, had to visit them for the fix but it was close enough not to be a problem.

Oi ya bloody goose, whats this bit, my little Navara shooting wagon is still going strong, hasn't missed a beat, matter of fact it doesn't miss roos either :x but the only thing Ive done since buying it is the filters and oil. Cheap to run, goes like the clappers, its an older model think its 2004. No one can say they aren't tough, when you consider the pounding it gets from me and 90 percent of it is off road. I reckon our country is a bit tougher than yours as well, we got fucken rocks as well as pine stumps
