ive got 4 days of stillin coming up,not really looking forward to it.
i only used 40 lts of the 60 ltrs molasses,it gets pretty hard to stir at 40 ltrs per 200 ltr drum.

Used it to help stop bloat in sheep when introducing them to wheat based feed pellets. Helps them burp apparently.

Also can be used for sealing up earth wall dams to stop leakage

was watching an episode of moonshiners the other night.
one guy was making brandy with strawberries.
there was mention of some additive he used to make it ferment quicker [or somethin like that]
and later the two old fellas mentioned something about an additive they used when making sugar/sweet potato shine.
aas near as i can figure,its amalize [?] their using.
something about the sweet tata being a different starch from corn....
anyhow,im going to get some and try it on the potato vodka...if it puts out 20ltrs or better,ill be adding it to more brews.
also,i found if i didnt fill the still drum as much [left more room for steam] output increased and was more stable to control.

I haven't looked too far into it but the amalayse stuff can also be sourced in certain yeasts (or added to).
At this stage I've come back around to the turbo yeasts but using smaller amounts each mash. Goes further and works well.
FWIW I use Alcotec 48 or Turbo 48. Turbo always works but I think the Alcotec is a bit better for final taste.
As for Bentonite it's an excellent clearing agent but a little bit messier to prep. You can literally watch the sediment settle to the bottom of the fermenter in under 20mins, and you don't have to wait 24+ hours for it to fully clear. The packaged clearing agents are pretty poor by comparison (and expensive).
Don't put used bentonite down your sink (it will clog it up eventually), chuck it in the garden.

these guys doin the strawberry also used high end wine yeast and the brew they made started fermenting before they walked away from the drum.

The 48 Turbo can be halved for each 30L fermenter. It could probably be split 3 ways...
I just empty them all into one storage jar and measure out about 100-120gm per 30L fermenter.
