Annealing Machine

Well I finally got around to starting to build a proper annealing machine for myself rather than using the cordless drill and socket.
Ordered the bits in a while ago and have not had a lot of spare time though did get time to make a start this afternoon.
Aluminium front face marked out to drill.
Some short spacers to mount the motor.
The motor to drum adaptor.
Aluminium face mounted up on the ply sides.

MIck might be happy to read this thread.......
In looking at the piccy’s he might see that there are additional spacers and adaptors to make more than one machine.....

I misunderstood. I thought this was a kneeling machine:

A bit more progress today. Just need to make up the bar that holds the case inside the drum and cut the drum to suit.

Was actually thinking that rather than having seperate drums for different length cases or spacers for the drum to fit shorter cases maybe have a seperate machine for each case

Well got my machine up and running this morning. Made an error in putting too wide a gap in the drum to let the cases in / out so had to lower the feed ramp angle to slow down the case going into the drum and prevent it falling through the gap and missing the drum. Overall works pretty well.
The bolt below the feed ramp just needs to be positioned to suit the gas torch and the bolt I intended to use to hold the case in the drum was too short once bent so went with a piece of threaded bar which works fine just looks a bit agricultural
It is not an automatic feed however for the time that you will need to spend annealing there is limited requirement for an autofeed from my perspective. 100 cases will only take about 10 mins to actually anneal.

Bloody nice work again Al, can see how these would be excellent for those who do a lot of annealing, me, I only do it occasionally so I will just stick with my cordless drill socket and LPG burner.

Thanks Camel.
I have a few projects kicking off over the next few weeks so will try to get a few more threads up to show you what I am working on.
