The bat is in my cave.

Post by WARDY91 »

Finally after 20 months I have my first bat in the shed ready for bedding and Inletting the stock. I went a hard as I could yesterday to get the inletting and the pillars done so I could bed it overnight. That didn’t happen so I got into it early this morning to have it ready to pull out later in the arvo.

I used marinetex this time around as it was recommended by some of the big name in the us. It certainly does the job well for the bedding. Almost too good. I decided to pull it out after 4 hours and I’m glad I did as it was a bloody good fit.

I’ve still got the dual port m to assemble yet. The mb has a 260ai and a 7mm case based off the saum.

The m will have the 7mm, 300wsm and a dasher or 6brai for heavy gun.

Nice neat looking bedding job. Bix n' Andy trigger as well - should be a good bit of gear when all put together.

Well I figured I was already in a big hole cost wise so I may as well keep going and get the bix’s.

So I’ve yet again been flat out working ungodly hours to keep everything ticking along and the gun progress died big time. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I have had a chance to refinish the stock and get it all ready for the maiden outing whenever that may be.

Very nice set up!
Joe west stock?
The 260 AI, short saum and bat actions seem quite popular in the west, I spent a couple of weeks with Brett B in Connaught this August and he had the same kit apart from the stock.

Yeah joe west. I have a short saum very much the same as Brett’s. It was freaky how similar they were and that was just by coincidence. He had a joe west on the bat originally and then changed to the noye’s as the joe west’s were a bit sketchy on availability.
