I've always had a dislike of the leupold windage mounts that I got when I purchased the rifle new. We tried optilocks but one the the dovetails or the optilock bases weren't true to the bore. I put up with it for a couple of years once the scope was zeroed so I left them be. I sold the scope and decided to change the rings and bases. I originally wanted a picatinny to use some spare rings but they were very hard to find 5 years ago. I found Richard nears rails and they looked good and he was one of the only manufacturers I could find that make one to suit the xs action. They weren't the cheapest at $218 landed but it's a solid product and I'm very happy with it.

When it come to securing it relies on an interference fit. It slid on by hand until it stopped. It stopped to far back to knock forward with a hammer and wood block so a little sanding on wet and dry did the job and it hit forward perfectly. The rail taper creates a locking force of 310kg's so it's not moving easily.

Yeah came in with no dramas and it was even listed as telescopic sight attachment. Canada must have a slightly different export arrangement.

Looks good, I have one at home ready to fit to my 222 but haven't got around to it yet. I was a bit worried about how it may restrict access for top loading the mag, is it noticeable or are you just loading via the mag?

Nothing a quick belt with a 5 inch grinder wouldn't fix.

I only fitted it tonight didn't have enough time to do much more. I'll spend some time there tomorrow and see how it goes. If need be I will mil some of the offending area out of the rail. I usually load the mag and too load rounds as I use them so I always have a full mag.

Yes Gary, I figure this one would need the tender delicate touch, was going to suggest either 9 incher or the oxy.

Gary he only does them in 10 Moa as off the shelf. Other cants are done on request.

Camel 9" would work but oxy not so much being stainless haha
