Guys,

Finally got all the bits together after getting back from Narromine for the new LG build. Now I just need a Sako extractor, and a week of spare time.

Any helpful advice on the stock finish would be welcome.

Just as long as you don't have a piece left at the finish. :D
Is this a baby gun for next year?
Did you make the stock?
cheers

Hi Macca,

I bought the stock of Jacko Bending at Narromine, seemed too good to pass up at $100. Couldn't find a gun I liked on abused gun, but the LGS had a new in box Rem 700 short action, just receiver, bolt and trigger. I went with the Rem because I will set it up to bottom eject, so it will be a fast LG if I need it to be. It will be in the 6mm TicTac, I'll just redo the 8 twist barrel I have been using in my short range Omark action. I had already purchased a second 42x Nightforce, and had a spare Jewel, so was nearly there, now I have all the bits, just need to get them together.

nothin betta and yuzz just gotta luv them tasmanian tiger wood stocks, eh :D :D

seriuosly, though, it all looks good, no reason why it won't shoot to expectations.

do you intend to use a clear coat finish or a particular colour/colour combination?

there are actually colours known or registered as "morning fog" , "fog mist" and "coastal fog" etc etc !!!!!

cheers

Dave,

Thought I might try for a 'high western plains fog', should be good till mid afternoon on a hot day that way. Definitely looking to leave the grain exposed, I was thinking either a marine grade clear urathane, or else an oil type finish, but not sure if that would work on the bags or not.

Jeff, I remember thinking when you got the stock off Jacko that it was the fastest I had ever seen a stock disappear. Fastest woody in the west.  I didn't even get to have a feel of it before you had whisked it from his grasp.
