Tightarse buildup Mk II (Its a Vartarg)

Post by kickinback »

The need for a sub caliber has arisen and these following posts will follow my progress with the build. The donor is a Browning A Bolt short action in .223 bought new. It is the hunter version and has a timber stock.

The only problem with using a Browning is getting the barrel off. I was going to make an internal action wrench but research revealed that would end in disaster so I have started to make an external wrench. Again, being a Browning again has it's difficulties, that being the action shape , half round and half hexagon.

The wrench will be made from some of Toyotas finest steel, which is removed when a towbar is fitted. When finished, it will look kinda like a conrod.

Good stuff, bout time you started doing it, I have been waiting. Just one small point, its not really in half is it ? if it was they would be equal size. Not being picky now, but .........................

Nice I wish I had the equipment and patience to do that sort of work.

Good to see you have a project going. What is it going to be?
What happened to the tikka 260 you were cleaning up?

Think I need to lend you my 4" grinder to cleanup that con rod a bit :stir: :D

Lights,camera and action.

So when are you going to give some details of what it will turn into. How small is a sub calibre?
