After being sent 100 30-06 cases by a very generous forum member, I got around to doing some work on them for turning into 338/06.
As they had previously been fired and of unknown loading history, I decided to anneal them, then run them through the Full length sizer with a tapered expander ball.
My set up is pretty primitive by some standards seen on various You toob videos, consists of a Primus LPG gas soldering kit, a cordless drill and a 12mm 1/4 drive socket mounted on a small extension shaft. The heat sink I use is pretty innovative, I think you will agree, simple but effective.
Equipment used
About to go into the flame
The heat sink/cooling chamber
In the flame and starting to change colour
the finished product.
I did the whole 100 cases and never split one. I think they came out ok, most will probably get lost in the thrill of the hunt.

Cases, before, during, and after annealing, then one with projectile seated, looks pretty flash to me.
1. 30-06
2. Annealed
3. Expanded
4. Seated bullet, if you cant make it out.

Sorry Keith, passion fingers tonight, I have fixes my faux pas. That is what is called Natural cammo, only way you can get it is with around 10 years of hard work, bashing around in the tool box on the back of a ute, and the occasional drop from the roof.

Looking good Camel
What are you going to use this beast for?

It will be coming with me on a trip up to the Territory, I really bought it on a whim as I have had a liking for that cartridge for a fair while now, when it turned up at the price it was, I just couldn't resist. I'll probably use it here locally for a bit of pig busting, and if ever get the chance, go for one of those supposed bullet proof sambar critters.

I got stuck into my 338/06 yesterday and despite a ballistically induced technical problem with the chronograph I ended up happy with 61gn of 2209 under the 225gn Speer. Pressure signs were good and I've loaded a bunch of them up.
I'll start another thread on the rifle once I am finished working it up.

I like the bevel on the tip of loaded round #4, is that to counteract the breeze from the right
