Very nice! Should be able to get plenty of powder in there. 23 must be up near the shoulder and body junction.

!/4 way up the neck in virgin brass, will probably gain a bit more capacity after fireforming, not a lot, but s bit.

If you want to have a yarn about it, I can send you my PH number and you can give me a ring sometime to discuss it.Flash Gordon wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2017 10:24 pm I don't know why I bother, just wasted half an hour,at least, replying to the subject, all gone, anyhow Camel keep up with it,I am interested and have two Brno 601's.

Re: 250 Myra Brno Zkk601
Camel,
I will try again, last night I decided to review the reply I was posting and probably poked too many buttons. As I said I have two BRNO 601's, 82 ,223 and a 86 .308.The 82 model has a Monte Carlo style stock and the 86 has a stock the same as the two you have. The 82 model has been given a barrel change to 6x45,simply a .223 necked up to 6 mm or 243".I like the 6x45,when I was on the farm it was good for shooting the odd kangaroo in the scrub during daylight hours.Very effective and soft to shoot. The only problem I had was that on ejection it would often spin a case around and drop it back into the action, this was no good,I managed to get used to it,but it wasn't ideal.I would have used it for Field Rifle competition but it was too difficult.Re the bolt handles,I cannot see that they need any alteration, the bolt on the 86 model .308 has a slight rearward bend to the bolt handle. The bolt shrouds on both of my rifles are the same as your 7-08.I am not using the set triggers, the .308 one has a good feel to it,the ,223 was a bit long in the reach to the trigger and I had the gunsmith bend it back a bit and it is a lot better.
Mike.

Re: 250 Myra Brno Zkk601
Ok thanks Mike, they are good rifles, probably one of the best of the mass produced commercial Mauser derivatives. Got three all up myself with this new one, 25 Camel/308Win, 7mm-08 and 250 Myra, they all work really well, nice and smooth and have good useable triggers for hunting rifles. thanks for taking the time to re-do your reply. I haven't got a 6mm so cant comment on them, but not much in it between 243 and 257.

Where does the 601 sit? Not a 465 or a fox/fox II I believe they are 680's. Medium to small mauser action?

Intermediate sized Mauser based action, suits the 308 family of cartridges nicely, and as seen the 222 family as well with a magazine well block at the rear. Way too short for 30-06 family and 7x57 Mauser family. Those other listed are like toys compared to the 601 action. Some original chamberings 222, 223, 222 Mag, 243, 308 and I believe that maybe even the 22-250, but I have never run across one. Would be a good size for the 6.5x47 Lap family of cartridges, or any that are made on the old 250 Savage case.

Hehe so its a short action not a toy/micro Sounds smaller than the swedes then as well. Interesting the swede is I figure as long as an m98 I suspect but slightly not as large in diameter hence the small ring title I think they have. The 601 is a versatile action then. Just filling it away in the memory banks

Re: 250 Myra Brno Zkk601
Got stuck in and fixed up a couple of the worst bits on the stock yesterday.
Before.. After... Before.. After... Finished bedding..
Gave it a couple of coats of Feast Watson fine buffing oil, letting it soak in and dry, then a good buffing with a lambs wool buff, then polished up with some Johnsons floor wax and another good buffing. Will get a photo of the finished product tomorrow.

Looking much better. Will be very interesting to see if the bedding job addressed the vertical stringing. When do you think you might head out for a shot?

Thanks James, as said before I am quite happy with it now, as to the face, well I keep saying that I am like a good wine, gets better with age.
Marcus, I am glad that you approve, of something at least.
Few more photos with everything back together.
Will go out and see how it shoots after the bedding job, still got about 40 loaded rounds with the same load as before.
