Still haven't got any rounds completed mate, got 200 Lap 308 brass ready to start on, didn't want to bugger any cases before the chamber was cut, I will have to adjust the dies I am using bit by bit, till I get a nice tight fit in the chamber. Ill be taking photos etc of the process.

Let us know the official LAUNCH date of the first perfected round. Gotta be proud of making your own round, not many of us would have the experience or balls to try that!

Yeah mate, just heard today was the winter solstice, on the way down hill to Christmas now, or is it up hill from here to then ?

Well, Hump day is a day early this week, Tuesday is now the official launch day of the Worlds first rifle in 25 Camel. Went over this morning and picked it up, got a couple of photos.

The rifle and the bloke who did the chamber and fitting job for me, Darren in his workshop.

Its amazing what you find in the corner of a gunsmith workshop, anyone ever heard of seen a CZ branded motorcycle, not me, just had to take a photo of it with a Brno rifle, made in the same country, by the same company, pretty good eh ? It even had a CZ badge, similar to what is on CZ rifles, on the fuel tank, just cant see it. Darren has had it for about 10 years and plans to rebuild it. Single cylinder two stroke 250cc. That's about as tecko as I go with motor bikes.

Got home and started working out how to form cases, luckily I had a couple of handfuls of ADI 308 brass to stuff around with, got the die set up, the trimmer set to cut them at 48.5mm, so tomorrow Ill jump in and start on some of the 308 Lapua brass that I am going to use for this rifle. I will only be making around 50 cases with the 25 Camel head stamp. enough to have a box of 20 for my self and a bit of a talking point, the rest Ill be giving to anyone who wants one to put in their collection. They wont be made for a fair while but, still have to work out the stamp details.

Ill be using the 87 gn bullets I got today for initial load development, then expand from there, once I get more finances in the kick.

Ill have to bludge a crono from someone, Yoohoo Mick 7.62 you there mate, buddy, pal.

2208 powder will be used initially, as I have plenty available, rem 9 /2 primers. Will be doing a bit of research into starting load, but reckon starting loads for 6.5x47 with 100gn bullets will be safe enough, then onward and upward, hopefully not into orbit.

my ol dad has a cz 175 ? 125 ? in his shed.
looks nothing like that.much newer .
tall skinny italian bike with a brick for a seat,very narrow handlebars,
a kick start that spins over to be a gear shift and an upside down gear box like the modern GP bikes have.
next time im, down there i will get a photo.
he might be persuaded to sell it before it turns into dirt.

well if you had of communicated a bit better I could have delivered a chrony CED Millenium 2 and some 85gn nbts to try!

Be a bloody great excuse to get to Hillston again but I don't reckon you could afford to feed me again so soon!

Couple of photos of some of the cases in the process of being formed

Parent new case, one pass through the body die, neck turned down, finally trimmed to length.

Because I had to trim 3.5mm off the length, I set my case trimmer into the vice on my drill press, with it turning nice and slow, lowered the cutter shaft till the pilot entered the case mouth, then tightened the collet till the case stopped spinning, then put a bit more pressure on and they were trimmed in a couple of seconds, saved shit loads of hand trimming, did a nice job, I stopped them a half mm long and finished trimming as per normal with the trimmer bolted to the bench. Couple of million turns of the trimmer handls and a shoulder reconstruction job, saved. Very happy.

10 of the completed 50 cases, they look pretty flash.

Case capacity is 45 gns of 2208, give or take 0.1 gn depending on how fast I pour the powder. Filled to the mouth of the case and wiped excess off. Seems pretty consistent capacity, only one case 0.1gn low and two were 0.1 over the 45 gns.

Next step is to load with a starting of of around 37 or 38 grains 2208, then fireform, will anneal them after first firing and get on with testing some loads for accuracy and speed.

why are you annealing after first firing?

Isn't your neck what used to be case body? Just thinking I would be annealing first.
