Try using a masonry drill sharpened for drilling the holes.

1. I don't think it would hide it either and I would just be giving it a quick bluing job and take a couple of shortcuts so it should look good, depends if I have enough bluing liquid left I spost. The Raven wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2017 10:53 pm I wouldn't think bluing would hide all the patina, particularly if you didn't try to remove the patina and make it all shiny smooth.
Try a bit of cold blue on a spot. If the prep isn't as perfect as the instructions suggest the bluing will look a little aged and patchy.
Another question, how did they make those old saw blades? Perhaps an acid etch might yield an interesting pattern.
Thanks Morgan, I am hoping they turn out good, will just have to wait and see.
Thanks James, yes Nicholson files are the only ones that I will use, I reckon I wore out 5 or 6 each year when I was brush cutting from sharpening machettes, they are the only ones that stood up to the job, I used to buy them by the box, think there was 12 per box.
Hmmm, by the sounds of it, that wood is still alive and growing, might make the project something like my kitchen knife set, its been going for 20 odd years now
Thanks James, yeah mate, have a look and see what you come up with, dimensions listed above
