Bing, bing............thought I heard a bell ring somewhere.

Yeah, Boyds do a stock, but at the moment they don't have any thumbholes listed, only a Prairie hunter walnut model, which is just a normal stock. They are not a drop in fit, they come 95 percent fit, and are very easy to finish off. Think the last one was around the 150 landed here, may be more now its 12 months since I got one. Either that, or Hatcher stocks might be worth a try, bit more dollars but will be a nice walnut stock instead of laminate. I have been going to send one of mine down to him so he could use it as a template, just haven't got around to it yet. I spose I should ring him and discuss it with him.

Re: 20 vt action choice
I wonder what one of those new Howa Mini Actions would be like for something like this? Cheap enough for around $600 for a complete rifle (or it might just be the barreled action?) either way it comes with a detachable mag too.

Yep, same critter. They have been marketed under a few different names, Rem 799, Zastava M85, Interarms Mini Mauser, Charles Daly. I think there was talk about them being called different names in years gone by, was because the Mericanos didn't like buying, or being seen to have bought, firearms from communist countries. a bit of Nationalism I spose. They were all manufactured in the same place, Serbia.

Re: 20 vt action choice
I think the new howa mini action would be perfect, plus buy one in 223 have the barel set & re chamber. Don't forget the CZ 527 221 f.b. is a 1-12" which I think the howa is. I would prefer 1-14" because I think 221 f.b. aimed at up to 50grn bullets, but having said that apparently the cz works just fine woth 40grn

I have 3 mate, they go very well. A little rough in spots but wear in nicely, you could do a little smoothing up with some wet and dry if you like, mainly on the top and bottom of the guide rig on the RHS of the bolt, found that was the main area of roughness on the one new one I bought. The other two were used and had smoothed up nicely from use. good magazine system, none of this detachable magazine rubbish, very good trigger that is very easy to adjust, (got instructions if you want me to email them to you, just pm an email address). Absolutely no regrets that I got them.
